Clowns + Katie + Rachel = Hashtag Awesome

Many of you have seen this already, but...  Megan balancing on a clown's face while he was lying in broken glass.  True story about the kickoff to the Rochester Fringe Festival at the Spiegeltent.

Clown: "Now, stand on his ear."
Megan: "Do I have to?"
Clown: "Yes, right between here and here on his head...  Both feet"
Megan: "BOTH FEET!?!?!"
Clown: "Yep.  There you go."
Megan: "Ewww.  No!  I don't like it..."

Outside of the Spiegeltent

Megan and Rachel at Irondequoit Creek hiking around looking for seeds from plants we like. Such a pretty smile.

"Excuse me waiter, but I ordered the large beer."  I didn't expect a Super Mugs like the ones at the Mutiny in Chicago.  Anyway, Katie came to visit us on a very rainy weekend.  We are enjoying our beverages at the Monte Alban (http://www.montealbangrill.com/) just in case you want a really large beer.

I missed out on breakfast at Steve's...  At least there were some left over Snicker pancakes with a drawing when I got home.

Not much else to report on...

ANGRY CAT!

Speaking of messes, this is not clutter; it's art.

70 degrees and sunny!  Break out the shorts and sandals, honey.  We're a goin' walkin'!  Here's East Chestnut Street in East Rochester.

 photo 100_6076_zps3780215c.jpg
A sure sign of spring were all the softball and baseball games taking place as East Rochester School.

There's a pretty interesting neighborhood and the southeastern portion of the village.  It seems the developer was trying to create a modern elf village, which these houses don't appropriately show...  Sorry...

 photo 100_6081_zps8429c49f.jpg
Our first flower at the new house.  Not bad little Daffodil.  When I came home today there were a whole row of these guys ready to pop.  I wonder what else will pop up in our yard?

That's all from Rochester.

Historic Four Corners of Penfield

 photo sc002c127c_zps15ef172a.jpg
These are some sketches of the Historic Four Corners of Penfield, which is where I live near the intersection of Penfield Rd and Five Mile Line Rd.  It's a place rich in history (which there is more detail about at: http://www.penfield.org/index.php?pr=dpt-historian-past) and a great place to walk with lots of small businesses and access to parks and trails.

An interesting blog about the Historic Four Corners of Penfield is: http://blogs.democratandchronicle.com/penfield/?p=2437.

 photo sc002c4015_zps48d9c1c9.jpg
One of my favorite buildings in the area is the iconic Wakan-Hubbard Masonic Temple (http://www.wakanhubbard.org/).  It's such a stately building.

Thanks for letting me share my neighborhood and sketches.

CHILI CHALLENGE!

 photo 100_5995_zpscf4779ff.jpg
Victor Chili Challenge hosted by the Victor Merchants Association (http://www.victorldc.org/)

 photo 100_5993_zps0ad21eeb.jpg
Mmmm...  This was from Cole & Parks (http://coleandparks.com/) at Victor Coal & Lumber (http://www.victorcoalandlumber.com/).  It was a very good steak and chipotle chili that was hearty.  And, I now have a new found love of eating in hardware stores.

 photo 100_5994_zps65f51435.jpg
The Game Gamut (http://www.thegamegamut.com/) hosted Mickey Finn's (http://www.mickeyfinnsrestaurant.com/).  It was a pretty tasty chili with some kick.  Plus, everyone will be getting board games for christmas as I already found something for everyone next year.

 photo 100_5996_zpsf098553c.jpg
The Burger Shack (http://www.burgershackgrill.com/) hosted Chef Chase.  What I learned walking in was they have a Best Plate Challenge where you eat their version of a "garbage plate" (http://rocwiki.org/Garbage_Plates) in 20 minutes and you get a T-shirt.  Little do they know that I have a hollow leg...

 photo 100_5997_zps1d9e8545.jpg
Grandpa Bob's Old Fashioned Candy Store (http://pennycandy.me/Candy_Store/Welcome.html) hosted Legacy at Fairways (http://www.legacyrochester.com/legacy.php?location=victor&section=about).  I wish I knew the name of their chef because he had the most gourmet chili I've ever had.  In fact, he won "Most Creative Chili" in the overall competition.

 photo 100_5998_zpsf5bf55b9.jpg
Hopper Hills Floral and Gifts (http://www.hopperhills.com/) hosted the Thirsty Turtle (http://thirstyturtlebar.com/), which won for "Spicey Beef."

 photo 100_5999_zpsbac3c3dd.jpg
Jon Bon Jovi's Music?  No chili here; just rock and roll

 photo 100_6000_zpscd306176.jpg
First Presbyterian Church of Victor (http://www.victorpres.org/).  No chili here either; just God and a beautiful church..

 photo 100_6001_zps67540d1e.jpg
Apparel Printers Plus (http://www.apparelprintersplus.com/) hosted Bernardo's Pizza & Subs (http://www.facebook.com/BernadosPizzaAndSubs?fref=ts).  Dave's chili won "Most Unique Flavor," but I think it should have won overall best.  It had a great flavor with a little kick.  And, probably the highest quality beef ever in a competition.

Northeast corner of Moore Ave and East Main St.  They are so fortunate to have this village still intact.

 photo 100_6005_zpsab84e63f.jpg
The Black Diamond hosted Chef Kevin.  This bar reminded me of home...

To recap, the winners of the Victor Chili Challenge were:

Bistro 11 - Best Overall
Thirsty Turtle -Spicey Beef!
Legacy - Most Creative
Bernardo's - Most Unique Flavor
Bistro 11 - Poultry
Soup Spoon - Vegetarian
Bistro 11 - The People's Choice

And, since it was such a great weekend outside, we walked over to W Commercial St in East Rochester just to see what was going on.

Hope you enjoyed the nice weather while it was here!

That's Bill-ievable

If I keep going to Bills games, I'm going to run out of these kind of lame titles.  I guess I better pace myself or enjoy it while it lasts...

Bills vs. Titans.  I have a feeling we'll need a few bloody mary's to make this a good game.

Photobucket
Buffalo lost 35-34.  My philosophy about football doesn't focus on the QB being the cause of all that is good and bad with a team, but Fitzpatrick may be changing that...

Photobucket
Megan and I at Postcard Falls on Allen's Creek at Corbett's Glen looking for salmon.  They are there, but not quite ready to swim upstream.  We were late last year and are constantly checking this year.

Another Lollypop Construction Update

Photobucket
The walls are going up fast for the new training center

Photobucket

Photobucket
A lot of work to go as you can tell by the sheer amount of cinder blocks around

Photobucket
Crisp fall day with the trees changing color behind the new animal clinic.

Photobucket
And, the trees haven't quite changed color or the salmon start to swim up the falls at Corbett's Glen
Photobucket
The trees around Allen's Creek are about to change.  Hopefully, it will be better than last year when they were about to change and then a severe windstorm knocked all the leaves off.  It went from summer to instant winter.  Then, there was no snow.  Last year was weird.
That's it from here.
