SUMMER DAYS! (Limited Time ONLY)

Bringing a little bit of Chicago to Rochester.  Take a nice walk on a 80 degree day, running errands, with an adult Capri Sun...

Unlimited entertainment.  The neighbors are chopping down/trimming a bunch of trees.  I've never seen such creative use of a chainsaw before.

FINALLY!  Megan walking Scout through Linear Park for the first time on my commute to work.  This was a really big weekend for Scout with all the walks and all.  With the warm sun out, she discovered that she does like going outside now.

Megan and Scout along Irondequoit Creek.

Heaven is sitting on the porch chewing a stick

A good place to cool off and hide from Megan's scary rake.

This was a good weekend.

Time to rest now that winter is coming back...

Please check out my art at:
Don't see anything you'd like, let me know and I could create something special for you!

Greetings From the Polar Vortex!

Nothing like -2 degree weather with -25 degree wind chill.  POLAR VORTEX!  It's the first time I've ever had to scrap the ice off the inside of my car windows too.

 Before...

After.  This was from the previous snowstorm.  Nothing like shoveling a ton of snow and waking up to shovel another ton of snow.

The backyard is a frozen wasteland.

Plans for New Year's Eve fell through.  So, ordered some pizza from Headliner's (http://headlinerspizza.com/).

If I wasn't sold on Headliner's before, I certainly am now.  SLICE THE SIZE OF A NEW BORN!  Who ever does their marketing is a genius.

Mmmm...  Pre-mixed vodka a Gatorade on sale at the liquor store.  How convenient.

New coffee mug around the ol' house.  This is what I look like before my caffeine.

After I've added some coffee.  Nothing like a heat activated cup o' joe.

And now for the misadventures of Scout.  This week's episode: Discovering the Lost Underworld of the Couch.

It won't be long before she won't fit under there anymore.  I'm just waiting for her to go after her ball and start crying because she's stuck.

This is what happens when you can't go outside...

That's all.  Hope everyone back in Michigan and Chicago are keeping safe in warm.  All's well over here.

When Wishes Come True!

 photo 100_6155_zps698e5fc2.jpg
Celebrating Megan and Dave's birthdays!  So many cakes, so little time.

 photo 100_6153_zps81459952.jpg
Cabin Fever maple flavored whisky.  The question is this a small bottle or a really large hand?

 photo 100_6150_zps1f6c1d89.jpg
She'll never look this new or shiny again.  Broke out the Honda HRX217HZA lawnmower and took it out for a test drive.  See what it could do.  Lots of child safety features.  Never thought I'd have to read an instruction manual on how to pour gas from a gas can before.  Some trial and error on the multiple levers and buttons on the mower itself.  The kids may be safe, but the adult driving the mower is in way more danger just keeping track of all the switches...

Choose your own adventure: Honey I Shrunk the Kids or Mike's Front Lawn?  HERE COMES THE MOWER!

 photo 100_6152_zpsf37619f7.jpg
The lawn is even.  My life is now complete...

 photo 100_6149_zpsd804c4b0.jpg
Getting ready for Mike and Rosie's wedding at the cabin...

Detroit Red Wings vs. the Chicago Blackhawks starts tonight.  Megan's trying to convince me that "playoff beard" isn't as effective as "playoff clean-shaven."  But, I think she has motives other than hockey...

Megan had the Muffaletta and French Onion Soup.  Great people watching too!

Photobucket
Hanging out in Market Square.  A gathering place desperately missing from downtown Rochester.  Take notes...  There will be more later as well

Here we are.  Point State Park http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point_State_Park, which is at the intersection of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers

Reminds me of the trams in Portugal

Photobucket

Photobucket
They don't build them like this anymore!

Photobucket
Yikes!  I'm not a big fan of heights and all I thought the whole way up was "I hope the cable doesn't snap."

Photobucket
Inside the station at the top

Photobucket
The workings of the cable car or a good album cover (do they still have those?)

Photobucket

 Photobucket
If you look real closely under the cable car, you will see a guy with a Tide bottle full of grease lubricating the cable/rail.

Photobucket
SEE HIM!!!

Photobucket
On top of Mount Washington

Photobucket
Not a bad view...

Photobucket
Heinz Field again...

Photobucket
Everywhere we go on trips, Bill Clinton has been there before us...

Photobucket
If we had a buzillion dollars and a second home in Pittsburgh, we'd settle for this place.

Photobucket
If it wasn't a beautiful 75-80 degree day in October, I'd probably thought of going inside the Andy Warhol Museum.  Next time...  Same with the National Aviary...

Photobucket
You wouldn't think this river walk path was in the heart of an urban metropolis, would you?

Photobucket
16th Street Bridge.  I learned a hard lesson about Pittsburgh on this day.  If you plan to cross the river, please check to make sure a bridge exists beyond the one you are currently walking by.

The view from Herr's Island.  Notice the 16th Street Bridge.  The next bridge I saw was the 31st Street Bridge and it was missing part of its span.  I saw no bridge after that...  A long walk back...

Photobucket
Consol Energy Center: Home of the Pittsburgh Penguins. http://penguins.nhl.com/  Too bad the NHL is in a lockout.  Also, because of Google Maps I thought the Igloo (Civic Arena) still existed and was really excited to see it.  I knew it was next door, but after a couple of laps realized it was turned into a parking lot...

Photobucket
It's Mr. Rogers.  A very lumpy day in the neighborhood

Photobucket
Just to give you perspective on how large this statue really is

Photobucket
And how close it came to killing me...
