Stanley and Me

Photobucket
Here's Flat Stanley (FS). For those who don't know, FS is a school project where kids give him to people they know and take pictures of all the places he ends up. This guy has been to way more places than I have including Paris, Ireland, England, and throughout the United States. Most importantly, the Kedzie Stop on the Brown Line of the CTA. This is for a little girl in Pennsylvania who is the niece of a friend's friend of my girlfriend...

Megan's dad made a surprised visit for her birthday. So, we went to the Chop House and then they
went to a Cubs vs. Padres game the next day instead of work.

Megan and a co-worker had a shared martini b-day party at work. Her co-worker has a niece or
something who's an "exotic dancer. So, for Megan's b-day, he gave her this card and a pair of her
old 8 inch tall dancing shoes.

BEST WORK PERK EVER! My co-worker, Ruth, and I got free tickets to the White Sox right behind the
Sox dugout a couple nights ago. Here's the team during the national anthem.

A disputed bunt where the umpires didn't see anything wrong, nor did anyone in the stadium, but it
was called back because a Twins player complained and they called it back. It was a very strange call
and took a lot of time to sort out. But, Ozzie had a few words with the umpire and that was
entertaining as always

Another Ozzie moment. I wish I could see a replay of this because it was very improbable that the player was safe. But, oh well.... I was hoping to catch him getting thrown out. Didn't happen

Another lifelong dream fulfilled. I finally got a game ball. This was tossed to me by Paul Konerko! I came close to getting one a couple years ago at a Sox game, but I just came back from the food stand with drinks and nachos and a brat in my hand when it headed toward me. As I tried to maneuver around, the ball landed in the seat in front of me and I had to fight some kids for the ball, which I lost to another adult who got it. This only cost me a half a beer I spilled on the dugout that the guy I gave my extra seat to bought for me. GREAT DEAL!

I don't know why this fascinates me so much. But, this is the Blue Cross/Blue Shield building. It was 20 stories tall and designed to be taller. So, they are adding another 24 stories or something on top.

Talking about fine art, my old classrooms at the School of the Art Institute are under this new giant condo building. A huge condo building probably seemed like a lot better investment about 6 months ago...

Snuggie, Pleather, and Lace

Cubicle Cat Cupcake at work

On one of the random 80 degree days between the 30 degree days, I happened to see bigfoot also taking a walk and enjoying the weather.

Megan and I happened to pass by the Snuggie Pub Crawl. What's a Snuggie, you may ask? Why, it's a blanket with sleeves of course!

This girl isn't really one of them, but my favorite was the girls who tried to make these things look sexy.

Who wouldn't want a monkey cake from Dinkle's Bakery at the Paulina stop on the brown line?

A creepy welcome home!

A ba-zillion kids at one of thousands of Chicago parks

Cliff celebrating at Amanda's (P)Leather and Lace Party

Amanda and I at her party. You can't tell from this picture, but I have a leather vest on underneath and the tightest leather chaps you've ever seen...

Everyone's favorite Thriller, Nate.

Katie, SME, and Tennessee's birthday cake and plates

SME as Stevie Nicks. Unfortunately, this is the only photo I have of Rosie. She's the glob of hair and gold to the right. She had awesome gold (legwarmers?).

Everyone's favorite Medieval Mafia Biker.

"That picture's ugly." So what? I like it anyway!

So, A Chicken Walks Into My Office...

Birthdays are a HUGE deal at work and it was my anonymous boss lady's b-day. When I went into work that morning, I had no idea a singing telegram chicken would be there as well.

She looks startled because he was "balking" at her really loud.

Those are some hairy chicken legs...

This is somewhere in the north of Chicago. Anyone know if this place is good or not? It's in Roger's Park or something.

Megan and I went and did some work related travel. Her work, no longer mine. That being architecture. There was an art gallery next to the Grosse Pointe Lighthouse and this was my favorite piece. I've seen more obnoxious strollers being used in Wicker Park/Bucktown that cost $1000 though.

This is from the Adult Art Education Class in Evanston. It was called "The Grateful Dead."

The Grosse Pointe Lighthouse

The sandy shore of Lake Michigan

The Baha'i Temple up in Wilmette. If you haven't been to it yet, I highly suggest it.

It took about 40 years to construct this place and they are still working on it. It was started in 1912.

Detail

That's about it. Waiting for it to stop snowing in April so I can go outside and enjoy myself.

xoxo,
Mike
