What happens when a piece of Mike Kraus' art scampers into the studio of Maureen Robbins?  Magic!  An artists' workshop is a dangerous place for a squirrel to wander in to.  There's lots of paint, beads, gems, stones lurking in every nook and cranny.  Some that bring out somber thoughts and others that dazzle the eye with its brightness.  But, if everything goes right and momentum propels us correctly, unusual collaborations can lead to wonderful enchantments.

Maureen Robbins
From collector to artist, Maureen Robbins has always had a certain flair. She shared her artistic side with a love of interesting purses and jewelry during a long career in Marketing, along with a home filled with unusual artwork and collectibles from around the world. So it was no surprise that, in retirement, she would take her artistry in a new direction. A bejeweled old window, used as a message board in a B&B was her first inspiration for turning everyday items into bejeweled pieces of artwork …. planters, vases, windows, picture frames. From those early stages, her artwork has developed in multiple directions and her work has been shown in a Gallery in San Diego, CA, and has been featured for three years in the Spring Show of the Erie Art Museum. Today, you’ll find pieces in galleries and art shops across Upstate New York.

Suzan isn't afraid of being "different." As a model, she regularly shops at jewelry stores for accessories. One day, she was inspired to create a piece she saw, but with a little more pizzaz. Suzan was successful at adding that pizzaz and started to make several more pieces. Friends, family, and co-workers would compliment the jewelry, which lead to sales when they discovered they were her own creations.

Why Diva Squirrel Treasures? "Diva" is Suzan's modeling persona (per say). "Squirrel" is her nickname because of her short attention span. And "Treasures" are all her jewelry. "It is uniquely silly, but even my oldest son said he remembered in because it was different.

On the far side of the farm was a field where a few of the animals were allowed to wander.  She went to see the flowers and got more than she bargained for.  As soon as she came over the small hills the animals began to gather around her.  It didn't take long for most of them to wander away when they realized she didn't have any food for them.  That is, all except for one white goat.  For the rest of the afternoon, the white goat followed her around the farm.  It'd nudge her arm for affection.  It'd bleat at her when it was bored at standing in a specific area.  But, most of all, it wanted to be her friend.

Signs of Summa

SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE!  To celebrate, Megan is sipping a fine beer waiting for me to build the fire up enough for s'mores.  Hurry up Mike!  S'MORES!

We have reached peak s'more roasting

Congrats Maureen on an amazing show.  So many fun pieces and lots of fun people.  It was another great opening at Whitman Works (https://www.whitmanworks.com/).

These are completely awesome.  I want to rehang this somewhere in my house.  So, I need to build a new wall somewhere soon...

Mike Kraus Wins a Contest and Reviews Facial Polish!

YEAH!  I won a bottle of Detoxifying Charcoal Facial Polish from Lemongrass Spa and it just arrived in the mail!

Detoxifying polish extracts impurities and exfoliates dry skin.  Super antioxidants contained in red raspberry and acai help recharge cells for glowing, radiant skin.

It's the first day of Spring and my face feels like sandpaper after a cold winter and the blast of dry central air for the last six months.

Only need a little dab, which means a two ounce container should last forever.

Massage into the skin with upward strokes.

The price of beauty before rinsing off with cool water.

My face feels so much better.  It's really soft and now I smell raspberries everywhere I go.  Highly recommended.  If you'd like a bottle, contact Mandi at Lemongrass Spa at: http://www.ourlemongrassspa.com/4812

The streets can be a dangerous place.  Strange noises coming from the alleys.  Suspicious people on the street corner.  Cars slowing down as they pass you from behind walking on the sidewalk.  That is why there is: The Sentry.

This drawing would look best in a colorful space that is bright red, orange, yellow, light green, blue, purple, black, white, neutral, or wood.

A weekend to myself.  Better get everything I need to survive.  A few meals, junk food for snacks, something for dessert, and something to drink to make me feel good.  Aisles and aisles of brightly colored sugary treats.  All waiting for me to let myself go.
