It's a Hot One Tonight

Photobucket
See this cow?  It's outside the Red Osier Restaurant in Stafford, New York (outside of LeRoy).  I had a piece of meat the size of this cow and it was the "petite portion."  They have a cut of meat that is 5 lbs. and it comes with a t-shirt.  Where's John Candy from the Great Outdoors when you need him?

The McGuiness Pub, Ronan Carroll's favorite Irish pub if he ever visits it, now has "Cruise Night" ever Wednesday.  Something I discovered on the way to getting ice cream.

Kid's art hanging up at Lollypop Farm.  These were some of my favorites.  But, after I saw these I saw a bunch of others I like.  One has a talking fish I find humorous.

God, I wish we adopted out penguins.  I'd keep them in my office!

A donor breakfast even expertly pulled off by Jenny and Julie.

The Owl House in downtown Rochester!

Edamame, fish tacos, and pulled pork sandwich.  All very good and fresh.  Not too hardy though since we had to have a post-dinner snack when we got home.  Quickest service ever too.  Megan and I were out on a date night and it took us longer to get there driving than to get seated, order, eat, and pay the bill.  Oh, the drinks were on the small side as well.  But, other than that, good stuff!

MEAT!

Photobucket
PETE AND MEAT!  They cart out the meat and carve it at your table.  They do the same with ice cream and a few other dishes.  I'm completely sold on this place and my grandpa's would have loved it.

That's it other than being crazy busy at work these days.  Lots of events, meetings, installations, reports, budgeting, calls, and on and on and on.  It's all great though and I'm excited about the stuff I'm working to improve.

PS-this blog is now available to view in a mobile version.  Let me know what you think since I don't have a smart phone.

Ask Me Why You Should NEVER go to Schoen Place Auto in East Rochester, New York

Surprisingly, there isn't enough room in a blog to explain how after a couple of weeks, over $1,000 the car has just as many problems as when it went in...

How Many Milestones Can You Cram Into a Week?

My start date at Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester was moved up a week. So, I've been very, very busy the last few days.  Let's start by giving everyone my new contact information:

Mike Kraus
Annual Giving Manager
Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester

And now for the blog!

Lemoncello in East Rochester.  Pretty good sandwiches near our apartment where we met up with Sarah and Pete for lunch

If I said this was the craziest thing I saw while looking at open houses this past week I would be lying.  There was lots of great artwork in many homes.  There was one home that had more faux rocks, paneling, and other similar things on the walls than I knew existed.  If only I could have taken pics...

Photobucket
Megan fulfilled a V-Day tradition of mine, which is the February 15th candy buying spree.  If I have kids, they will be very confused when we celebrate x-mas on Dec. 26th, Easter Monday, and so on...

Photobucket
What?  You've never seen a Valentine fish in a tux before?  What means love to you?

Photobucket
My first car.  A 2008 Nissan Versa.  It seems my days of riding public transportation are over.  At least it's bright white and has bike tires...

That's it for now.  Let me know if you need a pet because I know where you find one...

Chicago Air & Water Show (sort of...)

Photobucket
Let me just start off by saying that I was spoiled growing up because I went to the Air Fair in Muskegon, Michigan when it was an independent operation and awesome. You could climb on the planes, you were surrounded by planes, they flew all around you. So, Megan and I were very let down by our first and only Chicago Air & Water Show. Not only was it crowded with every annoying idiot with a 100 mile radius of Chicago screaming horrible things to their toddlers, but we barely saw planes. Forget about the water show...

Photobucket
Leap Frogs during the national anthem.

Photobucket
Notice the tents and umbrellas. Really? It's an "Air" show. Why would you bring something that completely blocks your view of the air? Common sense...

The Chicago Fire Department water rescue demonstration somewhere behind the giant tent that kept falling down because the owners didn't know how to install the poles...

Human infestation..

So, about 2 hours into the 5-6 hour show, we decided to leave. It was miserable and completely disappointing. Maybe we should have watched from some place other than North Avenue. Maybe we should have known better and not gone at all.

On a brighter note, I found the car that will be know as the Kraus Family Truckster. One day, I'll pack the ol' wife and kids in this Mercedes and travel around the country. Probably be divorced and lose custody by the time we get back. But what an adventure!!!

Even My Dreams Weren’t This Good

For all you car guys reading my blog, here's the latest addition. Not sure what it is, but it's nice.

Albany Park has a sizable Middle Eastern population and this is a hooka for sale that was about the size of myself

Here's my co-workers, Christyn and Ruth, working on our top secret project. I'm sure more of this will be revealed at a later date.

Ok, so Thursday I was paid to go to a White Sox game. THIS IS MY DREAM JOB! Also, during the game there were four consecutive homeruns hit, which ties an MLB record.

After an organizational meeting, we went to the game!

Here's Nathan. He's a great guy and sits on the other side of my cubicle wall.

Our seats were along the third base line by the bullpen and foul pole. Three of the four consecutive homeruns were hit near us.

Due the the Air & Water Show this weekend, the "Leapfrogs" or something like that flew into the stadium.

There were a ton of these guys

After the Sox game, went to Millennium Park to check out the tribute to Sun-Ra. Sun-Ra is a fairly interesting story along with being a good musician. He had a huge influence on George Clinton and others. Check him out at: http://www.dpo.uab.edu/~moudry/

Saying our final goodbyes to Ronan tonight. He had his going away party last weekend. Tonight, I helped him pack up his stuff into the Yaris. Megan gave him his personalized calendar. He left his apartment of the last 3 1/2 years for the last time. And, tomorrow morning will be on his way to Houston. Ronan, you will be missed...
