'Merica: The Cookie.

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July.  Lots of hot dogs and blowing stuff up.

New mascot.  nothing like a fake owl with 360 rotating head action.

I'm going to need that owl to protect my veggie garden.   My green beans are starting to grow quite nicely.

Grow little sprouts!

The watermelon is doing alright as well.  Just waiting on the carrots, onions, and brussels sprouts now.  With the monsoon hitting us, that should help unless they are washed away...

6x6x2014:

Retro Flowers

Retro Flowers, 2014

SUMMER HAS ARRIVED!  The flowers are in full bloom under the sultry heat of the sun.  We've been waiting for this since winter and it's finally here.  The fragrance fills the air with a sweetness that attracts honeybees and hummingbirds.  Brilliant colors so intense that it is all I can see.

This painting would look best in a space that is denim blue, ivy green, brown, light gray, purple, or a beige

Hoping To Reap What I Sow

Scout helping us remove the fence from the old garden and move it to its new location.

Here's the old veggie garden in the waaaay back portion of our yard.  As you can see, it's really overgrown and its next to the "deer highway" and acts as a roadside diner for them.

Tilling the soil.  It's a bit more convenient near since it's near the house and better conditions.  Our home resides on an old strawberry farm, so I hope it's pretty fertile.

Megan's breaking up the soil and weeding.

A nice little plot of soil.

What kind of seeds is the little girl planting?  We have onions, brussels sprouts, green beans, watermelon, and carrots.

So this is what onion seeds look like.  hmmm...

All done (almost).  Just need to straighten out the fence a little bit and then the maintenance until harvesting.  We should have onions by mid/late October, brussels sprouts mid-September, green beans in mid-August, watermelon in September, and carrots in early-September.  Should be an interesting experiment for us.

Went to Warner Castle (http://www.rcgc.org/about-warner-castle) for an event the other day.  Some of you may remember this place as the location we took our wedding photos.

This is the Sunken Garden.  A wonderful place for wedding pictures and role playing games (RPG)...

The wallpaper inside Warner Castle

Flower in our garden.  Can't take credit for this.  It was all the previous owners work.

But, I've just discovered that the secret to growing great peony flowers is Mountain Dew...

Heavenly light gracing the trail through Linear/Channing Park

Someone knows how to set up a rest stop along the trail...

Memorable Memorial Day

 photo 100_6177_zps7f68def8.jpg
Let's get Memorial Day weekend started on the right foot at Steve's Diner (http://www.originalstevesdiner.com/).  Mom and my sister Lisa came in to visit to see what my life is now like in Rochester.  A giant pancake and a Steve's Special will fuel this day's adventure

"How long have you been here?"
"Ummm...  Three years..."
"Really?  Man, I guess I haven't been paying attention."
Smelled awesome.  Have to remember to try this place the next time I'm at the market

This is not the Susan B. Anthony House.  But, this is their visitor center and Sue's sister's house.  Don't know who she is?  Then you are required to read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_B._Anthony

The Susan B. Anthony House (http://susanbanthonyhouse.org/index.php) just off of Main Street in downtown Rochester.  It was really interesting and our docent gave us a wonderful 45 minute private tour.  They have done a great job restoring the house.  Sorry, no photos...

Ginny Light!  Checking out the new brew house of the Genesee Beer Brewery.  They seem to have done a nice job in spite of demolishing a historic structure for another parking lot.

Well, if you're going to see where Susan B. Anthony died, you might as well see where she's buried.  Unfortunately, the good photo of my mom and Lisa posing with the headstone is on my mom's camera...
