Martha's Vineyard is a "home away from home."  Mornings are slow, but not too late.  We take our travel mugs of coffee to the trails to enjoy the cool breeze off the Atlantic.  The smell of salt lingers as the topography undulates and we appreciate quirky formations.  The dense forest and thick marshes abruptly open to meadows.  We come here for this view.

The warm breeze rushes through the car as we drive down country roads with our windows down.  Every bend reveals new sights.  Every hill a new perspective on the panorama.  It's a yearly ritual for us to visit sunflower fields as they bloom.  A day full of hiking and picnics among the waves of petals.  It's the little things in life that make us grateful.

The light splash of water breaks the silence as I load the gear before sunrise at the dock.  The boat sputtering toward the channel as I make my way to the big lake.  Setting up the equipment, the sun is glowing orange as it begins to appear.  I eat my doughnut watching it rise and waiting to snag a rainbow trout.  The boat rocking in the gentle breeze.

The cool breeze off Seneca Lake feels refreshing as we return with empty backpacks and worn feet. A staycation adventure of hiking, wine, picnics, and swimming in the hot sun. The lapping of water on the shoreline as we enjoy an aperitif. The sun begins to fade and there's a sweet scent radiating from the vineyards as we saunter aimlessly. We're fortunate that social distancing can be so beautiful.

This painting would look best in a space that is red, orange, yellow, dark green, dark blue, purple, black, white, beige, or wood

Over 100 homes and 5 hotels used to ring Hemlock Lake connected by 5 large ships. The pollution began to poison the waters. In 1852, the City of Rochester began to process of improving water quality after contamination lead to a massive disease outbreak. Over 5,000 acres were purchased and all buildings demolished to improve the water's purity. Today, it's the prime example of how to live with these sacred lakes.

Still Having Summer Fun!

Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

Latest 2020 Summer Fashions

I hope you're enjoying your summer!  That you're spending sunny days by the water, grilling delicious meals, and playing games in the yard.  We can still have fun, right?

Your health and safety is very important to me.  As a few places reopen, I will not be participating (and have cancelled) all face-to-face art shows, exhibits, or other events until I can guarantee your protection from infection, hospitalizations, or worse.  My pieces are still available to view and purchase at: MikeKrausArt.etsy.com following the latest CDC guidelines.

Life is what we make of it.  So, let's focus on the good, take care of ourselves, and be helpful to others.  And remember to savor the warm, radiant days of summer while they are here.  The inspiration can last a lifetime.

Stay Safe,
Mike Kraus

We toured the Musée du vieux Toulon et de sa région and strolled the nearby neighborhoods until the streets began to fill up with tourists.  We hurried to the Cours Lafayette for the Provençal market to get some fresh food for the day.  There was a cool breeze coming off the Mediterranean that we wanted to take advantage of because of the heat.  In the early afternoon, we found a secluded harbor all our own.  The rest of the day was spend alternating between eating and cooling off in the refreshing sea.

This painting would great in a small space that is red, orange, yellow, dark green, light blue, purple, black, white, grey, beige, or wood.
