💚 THANK YOU MOM! 💚

Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

THANK YOU MOM!  You are always with us no matter the distance.  You've shielded us from so many obstacles.  And you taught us what real love is.  Mother's Day is a small expression of infinite gratitude for a lifetime of affection.

Let's celebrate the beauty of mom by letting her know she's unique and special.

Sunflowers and Lavender In Provence

Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

Sunflowers and Lavender In Provence
acrylic paint on canvas board

Our bikes race up and down the gentle hills of Provence. Everything has a distinct texture, the colors are vibrant, and the perfume in the air is intoxicating. And every twisting road we turn down has countless rows of purple and blue lavender. The heat of the Mediterranean sun presses against our backs as we pedal back to the village of Noves.

When was the last time you were truly relaxed?  You were without a care, no expectations, and free from electronic devices?  Maybe you were hiking, gardening, or reading a book with a cup of coffee.  When do you get to feel like you?  We have a lot to be grateful for.

This painting would great in a small-to-medium space that is red, orange, light yellow, green, blue, dark purple, black, white, gray, beige, or wood.

Moonlight breaks through the canopy of the forest as I hike in the darkness.  There's the sound of an owl in the distance warning other of my presence.  The leaves wrestle in the breeze spreading the scent of spicy apricots.  The nocturnal forest is exactly what you expect; and completely unpredictable.  In the dark shadows of the evening I can see everything and nothing at all.

This painting would look best in a small-to-medium space that is red, orange, yellow, green, dark blue, purple, black, white, beige, grey, or wood.

On the far side of the farm was a field where a few of the animals were allowed to wander.  She went to see the flowers and got more than she bargained for.  As soon as she came over the small hill the animals began to gather around her.  It didn't take long for most of them to wander away when they realized she didn't have any food for them.  That is, all except for one white goat.  For the rest of the afternoon, the goat followed her around.  It'd nudge her arm for affection.  It'd bleat at her when it was bored at standing in a specific area.  But, most of all, it wanted to be her friend.

This piece would look best in a small-to-medium space that is red, orange yellow, green, purple, black, white, grey, or wood.

☀😎 Make Your Home Beautiful This Spring 😎☀

Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

Spring has Sprung

After so many months of cold and dust, it's time to refresh our homes.  What are some ways to make our home more beautiful?

Many changes are simple: Add color to a room with a new pillow, flowers, or a lampshade.  Updating your art is another way to add joy to your space.  It could be as easy as switching out a few darker pieces with more energetic colorful pieces.  And, if you're very ambitious, create a gallery wall of works that reflect who you are.

Sometimes, we need help making our house a real home.  And an interior designer can help.  How do you find one?  Love your friend's living room; ask who designed it.  Or scroll the social media portfolios of local firms to find what you like.  Consult with a few to ask about budget, special requirements, your process participation, and schedule.  How well do they communicate?  Good communication can relieve a lot of stress during renovation.

How our home looks directly impacts how we feel.  And we deserve to live somewhere that is safe, comfortable, and happy.

Our car whined climbing the steep roads of the Rocky Mountains and the headlights only seemed to  illuminate the black void of the sky.  Twists and turns around every rock.  Just inches from the road were cliffs with no bottom.  As we came out of a tunnel, the sky flashed and danced with vibrant colors and unusual shapes.  We pulled off the desolate road and just watched the sky for hours.

This piece would look best in a space that is dark red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white, beige, grey, or wood.

The final hole on the Old Course at St. Andrews Golf Course; "Cathedral of Golf."  In 1764, William St. Clair of Rosslyn decided to alter the course to have the standard 18-holes we have today.  And it has hosted 29 Open Championships since 1873.  That sense of history is felt with every footstep as I carry my golf bag down each fairway and over ancient bridges.  And I have a lot of time to ponder the days of yore when I'm in the "road bunker..."

This painting would look best in a space that is red, orange, yellow, dark green, dark blue, purple, black, white, grey, beige, or wood.

It's the perfect day at the beach.  A hot sun overhead as we wade in the warm water.  The breeze gently pushing the sailboats around the harbor.  We refill our adult sippy cups with rosé and enjoy floating around in the blue waters.  There's an alternating scent of sweet flora and the salty sea.  We've found our paradise.

What is your happiest memory?

This painting would great in a small space that is red, orange, yellow, dark green, light blue, purple, black, white, grey, beige, or wood.

🗞📰 We Bring You This Special Report 📰🗞

Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

Our mugs are full of hot cider as we take the path through the forest.  The red trees with yellow highlights dominate the canopy.  Sunbeams pierce the foliage more and more as we reach the trailhead at the apple orchard.  A vast expanse of rolling hills covered in trees weighed down with fruit.  People like us are so grateful for days like these.

And I'm thankful for the support of VoyageOhio.  Not only for their kindness toward me, but for introducing me to so many other wonderful and creative people.  A great example of what we can do together and I hope you visit VoyageOhio to see more.

Many Mexicans remained in the southwest after the invasion of the Mexican-American War.  While the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo promised Mexicans and Native Americans in the captured territory US citizenship, they lost their civil and political rights for at least 120 years.  From this came a group of women entrepreneurs called "Chili Queens" that sold tacos as street vendors, an easy to make meal for the silver miners of 18th century Mexico.  When the railroads came in the 1880s, the tourist sought out the Chili Queen's tacos just as much as any other attraction.  From there, tacos evolved to use ingredients available in the United State and the development of food processing; including iceberg lettuce, cheddar cheese, and tomatoes.  This culinary delight is a tribute to our turbulent shared American history.  And something to remember every time we celebrate Taco Tuesday.

This piece would work best in a small-to-medium space that is dark red, dark orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white, grey, or wood.

The warm breeze rushes through the car as we drive down country roads with our windows down.  Every bend reveals new sights.  Every hill a new perspective on the panorama.  It's a yearly ritual for us to visit sunflower fields as they bloom.  A day full of hiking and picnics among the waves of petals.  It's the little things in life that make us grateful.

Let's start being kinder to others and ourselves with the Kindness Challenge at: https://www.kindspring.org/challenge/?op=nletter&cid=2153&id=59060
