7 Things To Make Up For Last Weekend...

We met another one of our fine neighbors.  This is Kiki the Yorkie.  She was barking in the middle of the road.  Megan crouched down and said "Here puppy" and she ran over and lept into her lap.  Fierce guard dog.  She's back home with her loving family.

 Kiki likes laps

Kiki does like the grass

Thanks to Jen, we went to a Western New York Flash (http://www.wnyflash.com/) game.  This is outside at Sahlen Stadium

Pretty good seats!

CORNER KICK!

Abby Wambach penalty kick.  Did not go, but we did see her head in another goal earlier in the game.

Baby deer update:  They are all good.  Had a little bit of a scare last Saturday finding a fawn hit by a car on Five Mile Line Road.

Megan at Irondequoit Creek in Linear Park

Me at the same place

That is a really red sweatshirt...

Sgoh-Sa-Is-Thah.  Saw this sign on the other side of Irondequoit Creek when we were wandering around finding new paths.

Moving!  Not us again (thank god).  Dave and Alison got a new place and we helped them move.

Megan in "Mom's Attic" resting once everything was unloaded.

Stella seems to like the new house

Stella's also tired from a long day of moving...

Yotini's finally opened up near us (just northwest of the intersection of Penfield (441) and Five Mile Line Road at Liberty Street).  Haven't tried it yet.  Lots of yogurt shops going in lately.

And, you know what this means.  The Battle Against Beige Tyranny continues at the Bell/Kraus household.  The first coat is up and we'll finish it up this weekend.

Put Down That Cocoon!

So, what is this nonsense?  It's allegedly a UFO visiting a pool in Naples Florida.  At first, I thought it was the pool I was in when I was down there a couple of times last year.  Not so sure now, but here's the story from CNN:
http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/us/2013/08/09/dnt-ufo-in-florida-pool.wbbh.html
Does this remind anyone else of the Ron Howard movie Cocoon starring Wilford Brimley?  I think it's coming true...

What have I learned from this?  There's an organization called Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) dedicated to UFO research: http://www.mufon.com/

That's all I really have this week.  Megan's been sick, so we've been just hanging around the house.  Thanks to Sarah and Pete for hosting a party when Jarrett was in town.

2013 PGA Championship Is In Town

 photo 100_6422a_zpse7ee1a8e.jpg
Megan and I were fortunate enough to head over to Oak Hill Country Club to watch a practice round before the 2013 PGA Championship.  Here's Steve Stricker teaching a few other guys how to putt.

Here's Ernie Els.  My favorite part of this photo is the homeowner in the purple shirt watching the action at the second hole from his backyard.

Either the signature 13th hole or the 10th.  For those who are interested in the course, here's a good map: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/section/PGA04/2013-PGA-Championship-Course-Map-Info

The Nicklaus Village.  Looks pretty swanky.  I know I could never afford hanging out here if they are selling Genny Light for $7.50 a can...

Tiger Woods is here somewhere.  Maybe it's his caddy.  Perhaps another golfer just stole his parking space.

Didn't expect to see this on one of the trees.  Should read, "Gerald Ford, President, Ardent supporter of golf, beer, and nachos.  D'oh."  I've been to a few parties at his childhood home.  The owners have an awesome collection of Ford photos that I wish I had copies of.

The Executive Suites.  Probably the most expensive place to watch golf on TV.

The famous Leaning Oak of Oak Hill.  It leans so much it needs a cane.

That's my journey as Rodney Dangerfield from Caddyshack.  There's been a ton of excitement about the PGA being in town.  Rumor has it that Tiger Woods and his caddy hang out at the Starbucks by our house.  Many other interesting places as well.

The Sun Was Out Run

 photo 100_6396_zps34e6f57d.jpg
Outrun the Sun seemed to be a big success again this year, despite the rain.  The skies did clear up and lots of runners, walkers, families, and friends came out to enjoy the festivities.

Megan and I volunteered to be road marshalls this year.  Here is the first batch of runners on Lake Road turning down Burnett.

Sure, they run away when I come to see them.  But, when I'm trying to have a peaceful moment at my fire pit they terrorize me.

 photo 100_6387_zps9de8cf45.jpg
Megan and I had a mini-date to Rumi's Grill and Cafe (http://rumisgrillcafe.com/) at 2735 Monroe Ave in Brighton (the old Pizza Hut).  Here are a couple of beef flats, which is a flat bread with lots of veggies and spices.  And, not a bad deal at $2.95.

 photo 100_6388_zpsff765f7c.jpg
This is a Rumi's Doner, which is essentially a beef and lamb sub.  It was soooooo good.  I don't know if the locals know what to make of this place yet.  But, we felt adventurous and want to try it out.  It's a good Mediterranean/Turkish restaurant.  Rumor has it that they have a great breakfast.

Bailey's BBQ Sauce from Fruitport, Michigan!  This is really the gift that keeps on giving.  First as food and now as a vase.

Midget parking?  Saw this at Yotini's Yogurt Shop, which hasn't opened yet last time we walked by.  Never know what you'll find wandering the neighborhood.

Court Street Bridge over the Genesee River with the Freddy Sue Bridge (Frederick Douglass-Susan B. Anthony Memorial Bridge) in the background.

 photo 100_6385_zpsaf5e137b.jpg
Broad Street Bridge.  This is one of the more interesting things about downtown Rochester.  For those that don't know, the first level of arches use to be the Broad Street Aqueduct of the Erie Canal.  It carried barge traffic from the Erie Canal over the river.  In the 1920s, it was converted for use for the subway system and the top level was added for automobile traffic.  There's been talk about opening the bottom level up to the public with a walkway, stores, and other projects.

That's about it.  The PGA Championship is in town at Oak Hill Country Club.  Megan and I plan on stopping over at there to see a practice round.
