Photobucket
This has nothing to do with CANstruction. It's a leftover from Artropolis. Some kind of pop art wax monster. Or someone just coming out from a swim in the Chicago River. Your call...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEGAN! (Belated, but I told you in person. So...) Same night as CANstruction.

Photobucket
For Megan's birthday, she wanted to check out the Chicago Botanic Garden. About half of it was flooded from the very little rain we received. FYI-All of Chicago's topsoil was taken away by the glaciers, a very long time ago, leaving mostly clay. Therefore, basements, highways, and everything floods with very little rain. It's why Chicago was a swamp to begin with. It's so bad that if trees grow large enough, the clay suffocates the roots and they die. If that doesn't kill them, the water soaked soil with drown them. Crazy...

Whatever this plant is, it's extinct in the wild. So, you have to see it at the tree museum

One of my many reasons for loving Chicago. Where else can I go and randomly come across a kid running around in a unicorn outfit in May? Not many...

Birthday dinner was at Ethiopian Diamond. We wanted to try it because neither of us have ever had African before. It was awesome and you should eat it. This is the appetizer of Sambusa, which is some kind of pastry with your choice of innards. We had potato and carrot. Behind is honey wine.

Our HUGE tray of lamb with spinach and chicken. There was salad and a few other sides. Plus, it was served on bread.

Photobucket
Here's the bread. On one side it's like felt. On the other, a sponge. All delicious

See! Megan likes it! So, try it out. The website is: http://www.ethiopiandiamondcuisine.com/

Ravenswood Manor Neighborhood Garage Sale.

Apparently, a 1902 exercise bike inherited by the seller. It weighs 4 ton...

Photobucket
The most disturbing item for sale. Why is Santa bathing in crackers? Why would I want to touch those crackers? What will I find once the crackers are gone? What's with the sack full of dip? What's with that look on St. Nicholas' face?

Photobucket
Kim & Scott's Gourmet Pretzel Restaurant. Never heard of them before, but they were giving away free lunches. It was like a more festive version of a Great Depression soup kitchen with better food and fanfare.

Photobucket
My half eaten free lunch. A nice still life of pizza pretzel, lemonade and missing apple cinnamon pods.

"No, the Middle Ages Would Have Been the Worst Time To Poop!

First things first:
CANstruction starts tomorrow night. This is the 4th year Megan has been a part of this food drive event. Please check it out at the Merchandise Mart:

Here are some pics from previous CANstructions:

Onward to the photographic evidence...

Roddy came to town and we checked out a girls rugby tournament that one of his friends was in.

Photobucket
Almost everyone of these pics contains someone getting or with a concussion.

Photobucket
Here's a "twoffer." Two girls with concussions here. Can you find them?

Photobucket
After lying fairly still and repeating "It's my head," which sounded like "a bag a Jello hitting cement, the girl down on the right was being asked by the trainer "Can you count backwards by threes starting at 20?" She looked at him with a blank stare and said, "What? Uhhhh..."
"Can you count back by threes from 20?"
"Uhhhh..."
"She's dyslexic. She couldn't do that before" a teammate chimed in.

Photobucket
The spread at my work's Cinco de Mayo potluck. Where the rice and mini tacos were delicious and their was chips and salsa as far as the eye could see. It was the best day of my career...

Thanks to the ladies at my work for using our connections to the Children's Miracle Network to bring this fine ice cream establishment on wheels to my office!

Finally, please check out CANstruction at the Merchandise Mart. It's a great event for an even better cause: http://www.chicagosfoodbank.org/canstruction
