Where this path will end is a mystery.  The trees rustle in the breeze stirring up the aromas of the forest. A freshness one always has to remind themselves of in civilization. The light refracts in strange ways at this time. It's when the surreal becomes the real.

Is there a place you go to relax?  Is it wide-open or cozy?  What do you see, hear, smell, and feel when you are there?  Is it a place where you can be by yourself?  What about it makes you feel good?

This painting would look best in a space that is red, yellow, orange, dark blue, purple, green, beige, white, black, grey, or wood.

☀😎 Make Your Home Beautiful This Spring 😎☀

Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

Spring has Sprung

After so many months of cold and dust, it's time to refresh our homes.  What are some ways to make our home more beautiful?

Many changes are simple: Add color to a room with a new pillow, flowers, or a lampshade.  Updating your art is another way to add joy to your space.  It could be as easy as switching out a few darker pieces with more energetic colorful pieces.  And, if you're very ambitious, create a gallery wall of works that reflect who you are.

Sometimes, we need help making our house a real home.  And an interior designer can help.  How do you find one?  Love your friend's living room; ask who designed it.  Or scroll the social media portfolios of local firms to find what you like.  Consult with a few to ask about budget, special requirements, your process participation, and schedule.  How well do they communicate?  Good communication can relieve a lot of stress during renovation.

How our home looks directly impacts how we feel.  And we deserve to live somewhere that is safe, comfortable, and happy.

Mike Kraus

Our stomachs were perfectly satisfied as we left the little restaurant on Rue Porte de Laure.  A tiny establishment with a handful of tables, ancient stone walls, worn timbered ceilings, and the finest food.  We hold hands as we saunter down the crooked narrow lane of little shops and active eateries.  Just as the sun casts its golden light over the city, the final twist in the road reveals the Arles Amphitheatre.  It stands proudly as if it's waited over 1,900 years for us to arrive.

This painting would look best in a space that is red, orange, yellow, green, dark blue, purple, black, white, grey, beige, or wood.

What do I see?  Is it empty and nothingness?  Or is it lively and full?  Do I appreciate the pure and natural?  Am I really looking or do I really see?

This painting would look best in a space that is red, yellow, orange, dark blue, purple, dark green, beige, white, black, grey, or wood.

The Morning Cup of Coffee

With sunrise at 5:29 AM, how am I expected to get any sleep?  Ugh.  I stammer out of bed to perform my usual morning routine of letting the dog out and all.  My bones ache.  I load up the coffeemaker with grounds and water.  It gurgles and puffs.  A steady stream trickling into the pot.

A mug full of caffeine will keep me awake during the day.  Start off answering emails, paperwork, and requests.  Get a refill.  Then focus on my real work through the afternoon.  Last refill.  Finish off the day talking with a client about our exciting project.

What's in your mug?  Do you use a lot of sugar and cream or nothing at all?  Are you like me and add a little bit of "Grandpa's Cough Syrup" to kick off the weekend?  Maybe you have another daily ritual?

This piece would work in a space that is light red, light orange, yellow, green, blue, light yellow, purple, black, white, wood, grey, or a neutral beige

There's a valley between the dunes with a cluster of birches.  Their white bark clinging to the trunks of the unusual trees.  A gentle breeze wrestles the leaves to mimic the waves on the sea.  This is where I go when my heart beats too fast and my breathing is labored.  It is a place of calm.

How do you relax?  Is it making a nice meal after a long day?  Maybe it's setting aside some time for exercise or yoga?  Or quietly cuddling with your dog on the sofa.  We all need time to take care of ourselves.

This piece would work in a space that is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white, grey, beige, or wood.
