There's a crispness to the fall air walking through the forest.  The sunlight can't penetrate the ground, but it explodes through the red, orange, and yellow leaves.  The sand dunes appear to smolder.  It's an easy hike to the small river.  That's where we'll see the salmon trying to make their run.

This painting would look best in a space that is green, red, light yellow, navy blue, violet, purple, brown,  beige, black, white, or on wood.

With sunrise at 5:29 AM, how am I expected to get any sleep?  Ugh.  I stammer out of bed to perform my usual morning routine of letting the dog out and all.  My bones ache.  I load up the coffeemaker with grounds and water.  It gurgles and puffs.  A steady stream trickling into the pot.  A mug full of caffeine to keep me awake during the day.

Birch trees have always been a meditative source for me. Growing up, there was one outside my window that I would look at while daydreaming. And, when I needed to get away from the world I went to a grove of Birch trees to find refuge. I’ve always found the unique and nearly useless white tree interesting.

A lazy day along Cayuga Lake visiting every winery between Seneca Falls and Ithaca.  Each with their own quality wines, specialty foods, and views of the vineyards leading to the lake.  After a flight in the rustic tasting room, we hike the old dirt path that divides the farm.  The dock juts out from the shoreline with expansive views of the waters.  The perfect place for a drink.

Nestled between hills covered with traditional wineries and family-run B&Bs is Canandaigua Lake.  After a morning in the warm waters, we peruse the village shops on Main Street.  We ended up at the restaurant at the marina watching the courteous boat traffic.  Our lazy journey to Naples seems almost heavenly as we pass roadside fruit stands overlooking the lake.  A great place for a summer day.

I follow the winding path not knowing where I'll end up.  The trees rustle in the breeze stirring up the aromas of the forest.  A freshness one always has to remind themselves of in civilization.  The light refracts in strange ways at this time.  It's when the surreal becomes the real.
