I < 3 NY - Part One - Albany

VACATION!  Megan had a business obligation in Albany right before we planned to go camping.  So,  Scout became a well travelled puppy.

A chewy on the hotel couch.  She loves to travel.

What's at the end of the rainbow?  A flooded road.  We drove through a rough storm that spawned tornados elsewhere.  We were looking for a place to eat and this forced us to turn around in a pizza restaurant.  That's destiny.

 Little Anthony's.

Mmmmm...  Pizza.

No, thank you Little Anthony!

We stayed across the street from the University of Albany, State University of New York (SUNY) (http://www.albany.edu/).  Interesting campus.  It appears the architects were very inspired by the New York World's Fair.  Good little morning walk with the dog.

Tower at the center of campus.

 Bob Ford Field.
Bridge leading to Indian Pond.  This was a beautiful park within the campus.

Life Science Research Building are a contemporary interpretation of the original buildings.

Megan had an interview with WNYT 13 in Menands.

Nothing like seeing a school bus park in the handicap spot at the wine and liquor store...  I'm sure they were getting gas and other good things.  But, I did a double-take...

Alfred E. Smith Building.  Just so you know, it houses the NY State Liquor Authority.

That General Washington was in a lot of places in the east.

Oh Scout.  You can't be tired now.  There is SOOOOO much hiking in your future.

Old building along Broadway.

Stagecoach Coffee.  Great coffee and very kind baristas that provided our pup with water and affection.

What do I see?  The personal memories and symbols I am trying to express.  Dreams of flashing images.  All the experiences I have imagined.  What do you perceive?

This painting can be easily framed and an excellent addition to your salon style wall decoration.

'Merica: The Cookie.

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July.  Lots of hot dogs and blowing stuff up.

New mascot.  nothing like a fake owl with 360 rotating head action.

I'm going to need that owl to protect my veggie garden.   My green beans are starting to grow quite nicely.

Grow little sprouts!

The watermelon is doing alright as well.  Just waiting on the carrots, onions, and brussels sprouts now.  With the monsoon hitting us, that should help unless they are washed away...

Lavender In Provence

Lavender In Provence, 2014
acrylic on canvas
10" x 8"
© copyright Mike Kraus

Our bikes race up and down the gentle hills of Provence.  Everything has a distinct texture, the colors are vibrant, and the perfume in the air is intoxicating.  And every twisting road we turn down has countless rows of purple and blue lavender.  The heat of the Mediterranean sun presses against our backs as we pedal back to the village of Sault.  I'll never forget the fields of France.

This painting would look best in a space that is yellow, orange, blue, white, or beige

Retro Flowers

Retro Flowers, 2014
acrylic on canvas
8" x 10"
© copyright Mike Kraus

SUMMER HAS ARRIVED!  The flowers are in full bloom under the sultry heat of the sun.  We've been waiting for this since winter and it's finally here.  The fragrance fills the air with a sweetness that attracts honeybees and hummingbirds.  Brilliant colors so intense that it is all I can see.

This painting would look best in a space that is denim blue, ivy green, brown, light gray, purple, or a beige
