The 80s Are Over

Photobucket
Ahhh, the first woodchuck of summer!

Photobucket
Took a nice little hike to check out Irondequoit Creek at Linear/Philbrick Park in Penfield

Photobucket
I know the feeling...

Photobucket
Made my first visit to the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) on a rainy afternoon.

Photobucket
And, how can you go wrong with a breast cancer awareness bulldozer demonstration?

Megan lifting herself, which is really good exercise

They need to make beaver sweatshirts in adult sizes.  And, sell them in the shop.

Photobucket
What is this exhibit?

Photobucket
Ah yes, a male resident of Rochester in 2006.  If only I could travel back to 2006 and warn this man not to purchase a new home or invest in Lehman Brothers!

Photobucket
MASTODON!

What downtown Rochester use to look like

I had a great time at the museum.  The Extreme Mammals exhibit was pretty cool.  The kids area with all the science experiments was fun.  The history of abolition and slavery in Rochester was really well done and interesting.  Then there was the energy area and the Rochester Business Hall of Fame.  So, lots of stuff to look at:  http://www.rmsc.org/

Time for some chili (chil-ee; not the city of chy-ly for local Rochesterians)

Spring Is the New Summer

Photobucket
Pure joy when it is 70 degrees in mid-March.  Mike's wife can then bring him to Indian Landing School playground.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEE!!!  Notice her puppy shaped flower arrangement

My new favorite corporate logo.  It's for Moonshine BBQ and I can't wait to go here for our 2nd anniversary!

How New Yorkers fix potholes.

Thank you daylight savings.  Someday, I will run for office and my platform will be solely advocating for daylight savings time to be year round.  And, why not move it ahead two hours?

Fooooood...

My 2nd Dog and Pony Show

Photobucket
Telethon 2012 for Lollypop Farm was a great success thanks to the Rochester community and beyond.  Our goal of $210,000 was exceeded as we reached 237,230!!!  Here's a WHAM 13/Rochester CW interview.

Info in case you didn't see it earlier

Setting up for the big show

Photobucket
The phone bank volunteers I trained.  They did an awesome job this year.  They had very nice handwriting, which was complimented on by a lot of people

Our first customer!

Photobucket
Mercy the Mini Horse!  She's already a star at Lollypop, but the pink shoes really capture the diva in her.

Photobucket
Joanna doing an awesome job training more phone bank volunteers.  TEAMWORK!

Photobucket
Busy answering the phones

Photobucket
Behind the scenes with all the "overflow" phone bank volunteers.  That's a lot of phone calls!

Photobucket
The show's over...

Photobucket
The set was taken down in a matter of minutes.  As Karen said, "It's like Christmas.  You spend months shopping and weeks to get everything ready and then all the gifts are opened and forgotten about within five minutes."

Photobucket
Another great Telethon!  Lots of "good jobs" and "congrats" to go around.  The Rochester community for their support of our animals.  To all the volunteers who poured their time and energy into this effort.  To all the staff that dedicated countless hours during the Telethon and year-round.  It's moments like this that show why Lollypop Farm is such a wonderful and unique place for animals!

2012 Telethon For Lollypop Farm

Photobucket
Join us as we celebrate our 16th year of Lollypop Farm’s Telethon, our largest fundraising event for homeless and abused animals in our community. The six-hour broadcast will showcase the diverse and meaningful work Lollypop Farm performs each and every day. Celebrate our far-reaching community programs, successful adoptions and hear stories of some of the special animals that have touched our lives.

Your support is critical! All funds raised help Lollypop Farm care for homeless and abused pets and continue to bring valuable services—including humane education, cruelty investigations, and much more—to the Rochester community.

2012 GOAL: $210,000

Make a difference in the lives of homeless animals with your Telethon donation. Remember—every dollar raised stays in the Rochester community and helps change a pet's life for the better. See how your donation is put to work:

$25 = Spay/Neuter one animal
$50 = Purchases surgical instrument trays
$100 = Purchases animal capture gloves
$200 = Purchases a veterinary heating pad
$500 = Allows for surgical and rehabilitation of one animal cruelty victim

You can donate at: www.lollypop.org/telethon2012

For the Best Coverage of Minor League Sports

Photobucket
Lancer Louie is Megan's favorite mascot because he is a sharp dresser in his tux.

Photobucket
More evidence that Rochester is crazy about their bounce houses.

Photobucket
Foodlink's Cool Can made the honorary "first kick" of the game.  And notice, he's not wearing a tux for such an occasion...

Photobucket
Indoor soccer is kind of interesting because it's a lot like basketball and hockey.  Things like three point shots and power plays.

Photobucket
THANKS MEGAN!  Now my xmas is officially over.  And, in their first season, the Lancers are in the playoffs.

Photobucket
I use to think people in Michigan were overly impressed with cars and highways.  But, this shrine to the Madonna of the Highways at St. Mary's is a little over the top.  Although, when you ask Rochesterians "what's the best thing about living here" many times they will say "you can get anywhere in 15 minutes!"

Photobucket
Occupy Rochester in Washington Square Park.  I have to admit that I'm naive about what they are doing, but they do entice me with camping
