They Ain’t No Lawmen In This Town; Only Cattlemen!

Chicago's had a lot of snow this year. It's beautiful too. It's been a long time since I've seen a decent amount of snow. In fact, Megan's car is stuck there until it thaws a bit. She's stuck in 6 inches of ice and snow plowed from the road...

What a postcard

Nothing is prettier than trees after a snowstorm. It looks like Narnia out here.

Bushes under the weight of snow

Roberto and his art show! Everyone should check it out. It's up until the end of February at Subterranean located at 2011 W North Ave. If you go on Tuesday or Thursday, Kate from Darkroom is the bartender (for those of you from Monday Night Klub - Chicago Chapter days)

Checked out the Museum of Modern Ice Exhibit at Millennium Park. Pretty lame. The description and drawings made it look like the most awesome thing in the world. It's mostly just ice and food coloring. This was the best part, which is chopped ice used as chalk I found behind the bushes away from the show.

Here's the exhibit. Frances, there were no more powertools. I don't think it would look that much cooler at night either...

Canadian art. Not surprised. All its missing is a Maple Leaf. If this were Michigan art, it'd have a beer logo or something.

Yep

Here's the drawing they did on the ice rink.

Ice exhibit seen through the bean (cloud gate).

So, I went over to the Chicago Cultural Center afterwards and found this sculpture. I don't know who made this or why, but why is my face on this? Bizarro-world!

Entrance of the CCC. I've taken this picture a million times and still think it's great

A cold Chicago night on the 'el. Even the pigeons know enough to huddle under the heat lamps at the station. Huddled like fried chicken at KFC...

Humboldt Park: The Movie

They are filming a movie in my neighborhood. Here's the article:

"There's no shortage of movies shot in town, but it's rare that one has its heart rooted as squarely in the city as the forthcoming 'Humboldt Park.' Produced by local-boys-made-good Robert Teitel and George Tillman, Jr., of State Street Pictures--which has also produced such films as 'Soul Food,' 'Men of Honor' and 'Barber Shop'--'Humboldt Park' ups the local love factor by bringing in Humboldt Park native Freddy Rodriguez to star, and will be shot entirely in the neighborhood starting this month. That's enough to make us want to go see it already, but, for those who need more: Directed by Alfredo De Villa (Washington Heights), the comedy-drama tells the story of a first- and-second- generation Puerto Rican-American family as the various members return home for the holidays to Humboldt Park and, like many of us, work on sorting out their functionally dysfunctional lives. Rodriguez plays a Marine with a heart of gold returning from a tour in Iraq while John Leguizamo has signed on to play his go-get-'em Manhattan-lawyer brother. While the film promises to entertain and is filled with laughs, it's not all fun and games, as one question it poses is: What happens when the family you thought you could always fall back on begins to change? Even Chicagoans will have to wait and see.

Megan and Noah contemplating Scrabble

FRANCES! I CHALLENGE YOUR USE OF THE WORD "TRON!!!!"

Noah, Frances, and Megan understand that drinking makes Scrabble interesting

Noah changes things up with Chutes and Ladders.

One of many recent snow storms in Chicago

Katherine, our Georgia Peach, is excited about snow and we gave he instructions on how to build a proper snowman at Goldies.

Nick throws the best Halloween parties. Too bad I showed up fully dressed the day after...

She's a quick learner.

R.I.P. Good Friend...

RIP good friend. He died at the Chicago Bulls game last friday. This Kodak EasyShare CX7530 5.0 megapixel camera was the best camera I've ever had. I beat the hell out of it and it should have died sometime in the summer of 2005. I've dropped it in sand, spilt all kinds of liquids on it, and all sorts of other things. The hard drive and all still works, but the lens refuses to open anymore. With that said, that means there probably won't be many photo blogs in the near future.

*Kodak, if you would like to sponsor my blog, I'm willing to negotiate...

And now, for the rest of the show!

Here's the questions. Does the CTA think people are feeding toast to giant pigeons or tiny toast to normal pigeons?

Brent and Angela's party. Amanda, Karli, Angela, and Vienna Beef Girl. I forget what her name is, but she works for Vienna Beef. She can get 10lbs. of hot dogs for $10. Ask her!

Nate, Doug, and Nick in an important discussion.

Gracie is so laid back.

Tennessee love to bother Gracie.

Amanda telling Nate all about her new apartment

So, Lady was cleaning herself while we were watching TV. I took this picture and she didn't like it. She rolled over and then hid behind the arm of the chair. Then staired at me waiting to kill me in my sleep...

Cicimaca is a candy bar from Andy's Fruit Ranch. Then have tons of foreign candy. This is some kind of chocolate covered chocolate foam with raisins. I had Banako and that was not great. Banana flavored foam with chocolate coating...

France and Amanda and Amanda's AMAZING NEW APARTMENT, which is really close to my apartment. Proof that everyone I know is moving to Chicago.

I liked the pattern on the door. I may use it as a background or something...

There are apartments that are smaller than Amanda's kitchen. Here's Amanda and Noah praising the light. Frances doesn't know what's going on...

"HI OVER THERE!"

"NOAH, YOU SEEM LONELY OVER THERE! ARE YOU OKAY?!?!"

Mike Nummerdor pulling up a piece of hardwood floor.

Amanda and SME

Quality girl time

Frances still doesn't know what's going on. SME is interested. Amanda is SHOCKED!

Tyler at another party. Nothing like rockin' the hood!

Frances

Nate is looking more like his Wii character all the time...

Noah should have been royalty in the 1500s.

Pretty SME. I have one where she's squishing her face and her tongue is hanging out. Out of my love of her, I will not post it... This time... Remember that and Megan can verify.

Me and SME

Nick and Amanda.

SME, Cliff, and Frances "hooking" on the corner.

Mike, Amanda, and Noah watching something good.

MICHIGAN BAR! Nate and Doug showing off our heritage of knotting pine, fish, and Bob Seger. I propose that Nate, Matt, and Tyler's apartment be known as the MICHIGAN BAR HOUSE from now on. Good job guys.

The dance floor

Sassy SME and unknowing Frances

SME and Frances once again. What are you drinking SME? Did you pull out some homemade Moonshine or something from the Michigan Bar?

Nick, Nate, Doug, and SME finding the benefits of having a dive bar in your own apartment.

Once again, another shameless plug for the 'zine. CHECK IT OUT NOW. Links below:
