Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

Supply Run

A weekend to myself.  Better get everything I need to survive.  A few meals, junk food for snacks, something for dessert, and something to drink to make me feel good.  Aisles and aisles of brightly colored sugary treats.  All waiting for me to let myself go.

This drawing would look best in a colorful space that is bright red, orange, yellow, light green, blue, purple, black, white, neutral, or wood.

Mike Kraus was born on the industrial shoreline of Muskegon, Michigan. After earning his Fine Arts Degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he attended Grand Valley State University for his graduate degree. From there, he gained varied experiences from the Chicago Architecture Foundation, Art Institute of Chicago, Hauenstein Center For Presidential Studies, Lollypop Farm Humane Society, and the Children's Memorial Foundation. And every place he worked, he had his sketchbook with him and found ways to be actively creative. In 2014, Kraus became a full-time artist by establishing Mike Kraus Art. Since then, he has sold hundreds of paintings that are displayed in nearly every state and dozens of countries. Currently, Kraus lives in Rochester, New York with his beautiful wife and goofy dog.

Megan's Time To Tell A Story (As Told By Mike Kraus)

Photobucket
Mr. and Mrs. Pape!  Megan went down to Florida to celebrate Mary and Andrew's wedding last weekend and had a great time.  Unfortunately, I had to stay home...

Photobucket
Do you remember Ronan?  He's was one of the groomsmen at our wedding and now living in Tampa, Florida (apparently working as a villain of some sort).

Photobucket
Megan showing off her Sound of Music skills by making a dress out of tablecloth...

Megan was very excited to show me this drive thru convenience store.  I have to say Americans have no limits to their love of automobiles and that's why gas is $4 a gallon.

Jackie and Ronan on a canoe with Megan in a swamp full of alligators, snakes, and other creatures.  Knowing them, I find it odd this was the activity of their choice.  Megan had a great time in Florida and that is all I know...

What did I do on "Wifeless Weekend 2011?"  Let's see, draw another piece of "apocalypse art," enjoyed 80 degree weather around the parks, dinner with the in-laws, and making a huge mess of the apartment that had to be cleaned up by 1am Monday morning when the lady got back.

That's it for now.  Time to work on some more graphic design stuff for Lollypop Farm...

"Hi, I'm Jerry Ford (R.I.P.). Welcome To My Airport..."

Happy New Years! Welcome to 2007. I've been quite busy lately. So much so that I've barely had time to shave and get a change of clothes. Not that I'm really bothered by not doing so. Anyway, I'm just about ready to start my docent training at work. For the next 3 months, I'm going to learn all about Chicago architecture. Man, if my life didn't revolve around that enough already...
Myopic Books - one of my favorite bookstores. I haven't been to it since it moved into the old Earwax location. I think its best feature is it looks like the basement of someone's home in Muskegon, Michigan.
X-Mas is over. Dismantling the tree at the Santa Fe Building. 2006 has been rough on Katie. But, not all has been mad. That's when we met. Michiganders Unite! Bess, John, Molly, and Beth dancing at Katie's apartment on NYE. Bess and John dancing on NYE. Don't forget to compliment Bess on her short skirt. (cat purr) Molly, John, Bess, and Ronan on NYE at Katie's. Ronan just got back from the homeland (Ireland). Yep, she's from Michigan... Katie on NYE. Megan and myself at Katie's NYE party. Notice Megan has a mohawk. I forget why she had to have a mohawk, but it was in Katie's Evite for the party. Something about a bet with John or something. It took 45 minutes, one (1) can of Aqua Net, and four (4) eggs for this masterpiece. Katie and Megan on NYE. Megan with the mohawk on the cab ride home. Completely awesome!

That's really it from Chicago. My resolutions for this year is to: 1) Remain far away from melodrama, which I succeeded in during 2006 2) Get rid of more of my junk. 3) Finish my 'zine sooner than later... xoxo, Mike

"Honestly, It Doesn't Look That Good. I'd Take the Salad..."

Here's from my recent images.

Artsy-Farty Limes spilled near oil drum on North Ave. None of this should be here...

They must have run out of tag names or something...

While on my mini-vacation to Schaumburg I saw something in the distance. Something that looks glorious. I could view it from my hotel room. But, what could it be? Sweet Lord, it's Medieval Times!

Welcome to MySpace Megan. May I suggest this as your profile pic?

The last place on earth I should be is the Woodfield Mall two weeks before x-mas. Although, Totally Weddings is a pretty great site. But, I've come to the conclusion that the suburbs are the worst place ever. People move out there to escape reality and responsibility. This means they escape society. This leads to a loss of etiquette for social interaction. Add to that x-mas greed and you'd be safer living in a shark tank.

Screaming babies waiting to see Santa...

Photo Op with Santa.

Heathen masses!

Megan and I finished out trip to Schaumburg with a wine tasting. As many of you know, I'm not a fan of wine. But, there were a couple that I didn't mind. They were the dry white, Franc Cabernet , and Cherry. The only way I'm able to be taken seriously in a place like this is hanging out with Megan since she has enough class for the both of us.

Well, that's about it for now. Just making some loose plans for x-mas and trying to finish up my next 'zine (which is what I should be working on now). Hmmmm....

xoxo,

Mike

Self-Parking Cars

So, I'm at the Illinois DMV getting a new license with a picture that makes me look like a fat serial killin' terrorist when I look a bit closer at my birth certificate. My parents were 26 years old when they had me. I'm 26 years old and no where near children. Having children and getting married is what old people do. Spooky and just in time for Halloween! Which, I have lots of Halloween parties to go to before I go on a trip to Indiana this weekend.

Enjoy!

Look what I have to deal with!

Chicago traffic is out of control.

Creepy store displays are my favorite.

The set of Escanaba In Da Moonlight, which I saw at the Circle Theatre in Forest Park, Illinois. I liked it better than the movie since it was a bit more refined. The story was way clearer and more vulgar. Who knew I was this much of a Michigan man?

Storefront in Forest Park, IL

I wonder what the purpose of this was originally? It's not an umbrella holder...

The purpose of this is to make me smile.

Chicago Marathon near Fullerton on Clark. There were 40,000 runners. Way too much for me to do that early on a Sunday morning...

X-Men Unite!

Much love and hope to see you all soon!

Mike
