Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

The light splash of water is the only sound breaking the silence as I load the gear at the dock.  The boat sputtering toward the channel as I make my way to the big lake.  Setting up the equipment, my vessel gently rocks on the waves.  I crack open a beer waiting to snag a rainbow trout.  The perfect summer day.

This piece would look best in a space that is red, dark orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white, grey, beige, or wood

Mike Kraus was born on the industrial shoreline of Muskegon, Michigan. After earning his Fine Arts Degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he attended Grand Valley State University for his graduate degree. From there, he gained varied experiences from the Chicago Architecture Foundation, Art Institute of Chicago, Hauenstein Center For Presidential Studies, Lollypop Farm Humane Society, and the Children's Memorial Foundation. And every place he worked, he had his sketchbook with him and found ways to be actively creative. In 2014, Kraus became a full-time artist by establishing Mike Kraus Art. Since then, he has sold thousands of paintings that are displayed in nearly every state and dozens of countries. Currently, Kraus lives in Rochester, New York with his beautiful wife and goofy dog.

The light splash of water was the only sound breaking the silence as we loaded our gear before sunrise at the dock.  The boat sputtering toward the channel as we made our way to the big lake.  As we set up our equipment, the sun was a glowing orange as began to appear.  I ate my doughnut watching it rise and waiting to snag a rainbow trout.  The boat rocking in the gentle breeze.

Puppy Files

Scout testing out her new dog bed

Megan testing out her new human chairs

This is from the last winter storm.  It's been nice out lately.  We have to prepare for tomorrow's Winter Storm Vulcan.

Snow beard

I call this "the snowplow"

My dog's pretty narcissistic being more fashionable than her owner and all...

After committing the unforgivable act of giving a bath.

Scout and Bella sharing a bowl of water after rampaging throughout the house.

"My tennis ball is under the couch.  I must get my tennis ball1"

The look of a puppy that realizes she is stuck under your couch...

Rachel had a swim invitational a few weeks back.  It was a lot of fun and Megan and I literally watched from the rafters.

"This is a middle school aquatic center?  No wonder our taxes are outrageous."

After hearing about difficulties one woman was having, I have a new ranking of problems: 1) Third World Problems 2) First World Problems 3) All Other Problems 4) Affluent Suburban Soccer Mom Problems.

Rachel is the second splash from the top.

GO LIL' RB!

Wait.  Poutine is just french fries with gravy and cheese.  And it's considered gourmet?  I guess I am a connoisseur of fine dining after all.  But, I may have to retract that since it came from the frozen section of Trader Joe's.

For Valentine's Day, my dearest wife made me a huge batch of homemade Snicker bars.  What's the quickest way to a man's heart?  Through his chest.

Pretty low key lately.  So...

2013 PGA Championship Is In Town

 photo 100_6422a_zpse7ee1a8e.jpg
Megan and I were fortunate enough to head over to Oak Hill Country Club to watch a practice round before the 2013 PGA Championship.  Here's Steve Stricker teaching a few other guys how to putt.

Here's Ernie Els.  My favorite part of this photo is the homeowner in the purple shirt watching the action at the second hole from his backyard.

The PGA doubles as a golf tournament and a lawn care convention.

Either the signature 13th hole or the 10th.  For those who are interested in the course, here's a good map: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/section/PGA04/2013-PGA-Championship-Course-Map-Info

The Nicklaus Village.  Looks pretty swanky.  I know I could never afford hanging out here if they are selling Genny Light for $7.50 a can...

Magnum PI grooming the green.  What would Robin Masters think?

Lots of activity at the Clubhouse of Oak Hill Country Club.

Tiger Woods is here somewhere.  Maybe it's his caddy.  Perhaps another golfer just stole his parking space.

Didn't expect to see this on one of the trees.  Should read, "Gerald Ford, President, Ardent supporter of golf, beer, and nachos.  D'oh."  I've been to a few parties at his childhood home.  The owners have an awesome collection of Ford photos that I wish I had copies of.

The Executive Suites.  Probably the most expensive place to watch golf on TV.

The famous Leaning Oak of Oak Hill.  It leans so much it needs a cane.

That's my journey as Rodney Dangerfield from Caddyshack.  There's been a ton of excitement about the PGA being in town.  Rumor has it that Tiger Woods and his caddy hang out at the Starbucks by our house.  Many other interesting places as well.
