March of the Penguins

Photobucket
This is one of our newest acquisitions to our art collection.  Obviously, its a bunch of penguins painted by Megan's great grandma "Baba," from an experience she had cruising around the world.

Not too much to report.  Dishwasher is now fixed.  No need for a new one as it was just a blown fuse.  Thank for all the help and advice on that.  Otherwise, been laying around the house.  Last weekend I was pretty sick with a cold and ended up reading tons of Harry Potter (I'm on the Half-Blood Prince for those keeping track) and the entire first season of Meerkat Manor.  I'm no longer contagious and the medicine seems to be doings its trick.  But, it's still lingering.  Maybe I'll be healthy this weekend?

It's a Hot One Tonight

Photobucket
See this cow?  It's outside the Red Osier Restaurant in Stafford, New York (outside of LeRoy).  I had a piece of meat the size of this cow and it was the "petite portion."  They have a cut of meat that is 5 lbs. and it comes with a t-shirt.  Where's John Candy from the Great Outdoors when you need him?

The McGuiness Pub, Ronan Carroll's favorite Irish pub if he ever visits it, now has "Cruise Night" ever Wednesday.  Something I discovered on the way to getting ice cream.

Kid's art hanging up at Lollypop Farm.  These were some of my favorites.  But, after I saw these I saw a bunch of others I like.  One has a talking fish I find humorous.

God, I wish we adopted out penguins.  I'd keep them in my office!

The Owl House in downtown Rochester!

Edamame, fish tacos, and pulled pork sandwich.  All very good and fresh.  Not too hardy though since we had to have a post-dinner snack when we got home.  Quickest service ever too.  Megan and I were out on a date night and it took us longer to get there driving than to get seated, order, eat, and pay the bill.  Oh, the drinks were on the small side as well.  But, other than that, good stuff!

MEAT!

Photobucket
PETE AND MEAT!  They cart out the meat and carve it at your table.  They do the same with ice cream and a few other dishes.  I'm completely sold on this place and my grandpa's would have loved it.

That's it other than being crazy busy at work these days.  Lots of events, meetings, installations, reports, budgeting, calls, and on and on and on.  It's all great though and I'm excited about the stuff I'm working to improve.

PS-this blog is now available to view in a mobile version.  Let me know what you think since I don't have a smart phone.

ZooLights!

The X-mas season official kicked off with all the insane folks killing each other getting $7 toasters and $5 DVDs at Best Buy and Wal-Mart. That Jesus and his consumerism...

Zoo Lights at the Lincoln Park Zoo.

At the Seal Tank. We think they are choir boys since they had loud music behind them.

This guy was pretty popular with kids and adults alike. Not sure why...

Penguins jumping from an igloo.

Walking down the African animals exhibits

A gingerbread man and his wife that he keeps in the kitchen...

A gator!

Oh, the fond memories. Do you Skee-town folk remember this fella? He's the centerpiece from the ol' Muskegon Mall. He use to sit on that stage-ish thing near Steketee's while Santa was on top of the water fountain.

Santa placing gifts under the tree in drag.

We've got crabs!

Nothing says "X-Mas" like a homeless guy with bloody fingers, smoking, and eatting a Chicago dog...

What the hell is goin' on here?

A Lion. He's so bad at football that he's currently tied with the Arizona Cardinals for the worst team. So, when are we going to fire Matt Millen?

Fairy tale x-mas lights.

Jack and the Bean Stalk.

Santa Claus in the Monkey House. I wish they would have put this in one of the exhibits...
That's it from Chicago. I think I'm recovered from my great stay in Muskegon over T-Day. I'll have to work on my plans for x-mas now. I have about four weeks of personal time and vacation to use. So... xoxo, Mike
