New Years Eve With the Razorsharks

Photobucket
As part of my xmas present, Megan brought me to my first Rochester Razorshark minor league basketball game at the Blue Cross Arena.  Please let me introduce you to Finley, the Razorshark.

Oh man!  My first Razorshark game is also a banner raising ceremony!  Now I can tell my kids that I was there when it all happened!

Unfortunately, this ladie's half-court shot for $10,000 barely made it to the free throw line.

The Razorsharks beat the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Steamers 107-98 in the 2012 championship banner raising home opener.  Megan and I had a great time.  Lots of great people watching.  For some reason, the pictures didn't turn out very good.  Hopefully, my next Blue Cross Arena event will look much better next week...

Well, winter started about three months later than it did last year.  Hopefully, this doesn't mean that it will ending in August to make up for lost time.

That's about it for now.  Very, very busy at work right now catching up on everything with the holiday season.  So, nothing too exciting to report...

It Isn't X-Mas Until They Light the Liberty Pole

Photobucket
In Rochestarian tradition, they lit the Liberty Pole for x-mas.  If you are like me, you ask "what does a pole have to do with liberty?"  Apparently, during the American Revolution cities that supported the cause would erect a wooden pole in their main squares.  Before this pole, there were two wooden ones at this site.  Here is a link to an overly exaggerated history: http://www.thelibertypole.org/history/history.htm

Rochester Mayor (Lieutenant Governor Elect of New York State) Bob Duffy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Duffy_(politician)) with Megan's friend Erica and her son Noah.  It's really nice to talk with a mayor of a city and he thanks you for moving to his town.  Well, you are welcome.

Western New York is a lot like western Michigan.  I forgot what it was like to never see the snow stop falling...

MEGAN FOUND IT!

Other than a couple of job interviews and finding out Megan is directly related to William the Conqueror, that's about it.  Now to watch the Bills...
