☀😎 Under the Sun 😎☀

 Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

How do we want to remember this summer?  There are only so many hours of sunlight.  Not nearly enough warm nights for sunsets.  And very few minutes of counting shooting stars while making s'mores.  What about summer makes you happy?

Art is about capturing the moments and emotions of today.  When we see a painting on our walls it allows us to reminisce about those feelings.  It tells others who we are and want to be. A few select pieces end up in museums documenting our memories of relationships, events, restlessness, maturing, work, and love. What does your art say?

Mike Kraus was born on the industrial shoreline of Muskegon, Michigan. After earning his Fine Arts Degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he attended Grand Valley State University for his graduate degree. From there, he gained varied experiences from the Chicago Architecture Center, Art Institute of Chicago, Hauenstein Center For Presidential Studies, Lollypop Farm Humane Society, and the Lurie Children's Foundation. And every place he worked, he had his sketchbook with him and found ways to be actively creative. In 2014, Kraus became a full-time artist by establishing Mike Kraus Art. Since then, he has sold thousands of paintings that are displayed in nearly every state and dozens of countries. Currently, Kraus lives in Rochester, New York with his beautiful wife and goofy dog.

😎 Ready For a Beautiful Summer? 😎

Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

Do you have beauty in your life?  If so, how; painting, music, interior decorating, or something else?  How does that make you feel?  Is there a boring, ugly space in your home?  Would it give you pleasure if it had attractive art?  Good spirits come from good surroundings.

Summer is so full of hope.  A season of making memories in the sun.  And we should take the time to enjoy them.

The wind gently flows through her hair as she basks in the sun.  The light energizing her spirit and the fresh scent of the field relaxes her soul.  There is only the whisper of the breeze and the sound of her footsteps as she passes row after row of sunflowers.  She selects a few choice blooms for a temporary reminder of the gratitude she has for this moment.  Knowing how fortunate you are only brings you more luck.

This painting would great in a small-to-medium space that is red, orange, green, blue, purple, black, white, gray, beige, or wood.

The isolation is unimaginable.  Only distant mountains in every direction filled in with sand, scrub brush and cacti.  The whispers of unknown animals hiding from the hot sun.  It's a dry heat and the gentle breeze feels like it's taking all the moisture from my body.  We take turns sipping our rationed water and pondering the landscape.  We're all in this together.  And that's only way to survive in these situations.

This piece would look best in a small-to-medium space that is dark red, orange, dark yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white, grey, or wood.

Join me at the Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo) virtual 6x6x2020 exhibition open now at: http://roco6x6.org/.  Supporting your local arts organization, like RoCo, is important.  The arts allows us to express our humanity in ways that cannot be explored any other way.  It can take us to places real and imagined.  It breaks the boundaries of language, nation, race, and religion.  It allows us to feel happy, empathy, love, and sorrow.  It records who we are as people today for future generations to understand where they came from and help them to where they are going.  It's a small gesture.  Only $20.  But it's the small things coming together that make greatness.

Medieval Aix is suppose to get lost in.  The wandering starts from the wide boulevard sidewalks of the Cours Mirabeau with it's countless cafes shaded by large, cloud-like trees.  At a roundabout, there's a massive fountain that we quickly splash in to cool off from the afternoon sun.  A narrow lane caught our attention as we sought a place to rest our legs.  At a Roman column with a star on top, our options became infinite.  A bit of coffee turned to aperitifs and eventually dinner.  And before our digestif we decide to continue exploring this beautiful city.

This painting would look best in a space that is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white, grey, beige, or wood

A way can be a guide, but not a fixed path;
names can be given, but not permanent labels.
Nonbeing is called the beginning of heaven and earth;
being is called the mother of all things.
Always passionless, thereby observe the subtle;
ever intent, thereby observe the apparent.
These two come from the same source but differ in name;
both are considered mysteries.
The mystery of mysteries
is the gateway of marvels.
