ARTS o’ MAGAZINE:
What Can We Do About Our Culture?

Mike Kraus was born on the industrial shoreline of Muskegon, Michigan. After earning his Fine Arts Degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he attended Grand Valley State University for his graduate degree. From there, he gained varied experiences from the Chicago Architecture Center, Art Institute of Chicago, Hauenstein Center For Presidential Studies, Lollypop Farm Humane Society, and the Lurie Children's Foundation. And every place he worked, he had his sketchbook with him and found ways to be actively creative. In 2014, Kraus became a full-time artist by establishing Mike Kraus Art. Since then, he has sold thousands of paintings that are displayed in nearly every state and dozens of countries. Currently, Kraus lives in Rochester, New York with his beautiful wife and goofy dog.

Chance apparently likes to dress like a fireman because he doesn't like the rain

I've seen how he puts out fires.

Here's the new $855 million children's hospital I worked on for a couple of years when in Chicago.  With the move, Children's Memorial Hospital has become the Ann & Robert H Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.  This place will probably be the most fun hospital ever built and a tourist destination.  Check it out at: http://luriechildrens.org/

PS-Congrats to the Children's Memorial staff, volunteers, donors, and the countless people that made it possible for such an awesome place to exist.  I'm very proud to say I played a very minor role in something that will help generations of children attain a healthy adulthood.

Diary of the Real Prince Charming

Oh Aunt Meg!

Handsome...

At least she got everyone!  Good job Rachel!  Too bad I didn't have a pic of when she met the Fairy Godmother and told her how beautiful she was and that she was a good singer.  Oh when she told Cinderella that both of their real names is Rachel.  Merry Christmas Rachel (Dudette)!

PETEY!  Why are you so big?  How come you are so squirmy?

Photobucket
This is Buzz.  He's the newest visitor to my office.  Right now, he's wondering why I'm working on the computer instead of petting him.  I don't know,  Buzz...

This is a on temporary exhibition in my office.  It's called Rainbowl by William Kenneth Daw and was featured at the Memorial Art Gallery in their "Extreme Materials" show.  This is his bio from the show:

In the summer of 2004, Ken Daw challenged himself “to find a creative way to feed as many of my four-legged friends as possible, while inspiring the public to see the rainbow of beauty in the everyday objects that surround us.” Consequently, he founded Pawlick Studios, through which he sells his dog food mosaics to raise funds for animal shelters and promote pet adoption awareness.

John Tesh Was An Alien?

The cake says it all...

The birthday went well. I think Hasan really liked it. He was so thankful and I think almost cried at one point. That kid will never want to leave Muskegon after this.

After the Glenside Pub, we headed to the drive-in to see The 40-Year Old Virgin and Wedding Crashers. Hilarious sexual comedies. I thought it was funny that Steve Carrell (sp?) was picked on for riding his bike so much since that is how I get around town. Maybe he'd have better luck if he had a sweet bike like my 1979 Schwinn Cruiser instead of the Pee-Wee Herman bike.

Oh yeah, I have a pen pal now. My student from Moon School sent me another letter. It's pretty funny. I like the drawings illustrating the letter.

I got a call from the American Red Cross for a job interview. So, Mr. Jacob Dykema, I need to know the name of your mom's neighbor who applied pressure for me. Candy or something? It's a pretty cool job. Basically, I would travel around the world for three week deployments helping people in disasters. I would be awesome at that. With job interviews, it's either feast or famine. Seems to be feast right now.

Anyway, not too much going on. Andrea and I are going to her grandparent's house for dinner. Maybe he will make me mix tapes after that. I don't know what we are doing afterwards. All I know is I can have too rough of a night because I have to head to Chicago tomorrow.
