The days of summer.  A time to appreciate all the wonderful moments we're experiencing.  The trips to the lake for boating and swimming.  And absorbing the light and warmth from the sun.  To reflect on how grateful we are for all that we have.

What do you think about the artwork on your walls?  How do you capture your memories.  Does that make you happy?

Mike Kraus was born on the industrial shoreline of Muskegon, Michigan. After earning his Fine Arts Degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he attended Grand Valley State University for his graduate degree. From there, he gained varied experiences from the Chicago Architecture Center, Art Institute of Chicago, Hauenstein Center For Presidential Studies, Lollypop Farm Humane Society, and the Lurie Children's Foundation. And every place he worked, he had his sketchbook with him and found ways to be actively creative. In 2014, Kraus became a full-time artist by establishing Mike Kraus Art. Since then, he has sold thousands of paintings that are displayed in nearly every state and dozens of countries. Currently, Kraus lives in Rochester, New York with his beautiful wife and goofy dog.

The light splash of water is the only sound breaking the silence as I load the gear at the dock.  The boat sputtering toward the channel as I make my way to the big lake.  Setting up the equipment, my vessel gently rocks on the waves.  I crack open a beer waiting to snag a rainbow trout.  The perfect summer day.

This piece would look best in a space that is red, dark orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white, grey, beige, or wood

"The First Day"
Andy Jacobs

June 16th. A magical day.
The first day of the course fishing season.
I can see the bubbles rising amongst the lily pads.
Tench are feeding.
They brush against the pads, gently disturbing them, but the resting Damselfly warming it's wings stays still in the early morning sunshine.
I have had many early summer mornings like this.
Mist, sun, cuckoo's calling, Damsels and Tench. Happiness.

Andy Jacob's passion for fly fishing and fly tying has been amalgamated with a craft business producing his completely unique brooches. These feature beautifully mounted representations of flies typically used to catch trout and other species of fish.  Each brooch is made by Andy from start to finish using the finest materials and to exacting standards.

The light splash of water breaks the silence as I load the gear before sunrise at the dock.  The boat sputtering toward the channel as I make my way to the big lake.  Setting up the equipment, the sun is glowing orange as it begins to appear.  I eat my doughnut watching it rise and waiting to snag a rainbow trout.  The boat rocking in the gentle breeze.

Seneca Lake

Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

Seneca Lake
acrylic on canvas

A cool breeze comes off Seneca Lake as we walk the grounds of a winery.  Feels good after a long drive and many stops at roadside stands, Amish farms, and a delicious lunch in Geneva, NY.  Just relaxing with a glass of wine and looking at the panoramic view of the lake.  There's a sweet scent through the vineyard as we saunter aimlessly.  A good place to think about what would pair best with our meal later in Watkins Glen.

This painting would look best in a space that is red, orange, dark yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white, beige, or wood

Not too many waters are as pure as Canadice Lake.  The wildness of the wilderness still remains as homes are prohibited from the shoreline and large boats are banned from the waves.  Just the tranquility of fresh water splashing on the embankment surrounded by unspoiled woodlands.  As I silently watch the sunset, a Bald Eagle soars in the air before a sudden plunge toward the lake.  It pulls up just before crashing while thrusting its talons into the water grabbing a Lake Trout and flying away.

The waning days of summer.  A time to reflect on the memories we've made.  All the trips to the lake for boating and swimming.  Also a time to absorb every last bit of the warm sun the summer has to offer.  To remind ourselves to be grateful for what we have.

This painting would great in a small space that is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white, gray, beige, or wood.
