🌞😎🌳 You're Invited To the BRING SPRING ART FESTIVAL! 🌳😎🌞

  Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

You're Invited to the
🌞😎🌳 BRING SPRING ART FESTIVAL! 🌳😎🌞

The sunlight pierces the grey winter clouds as they give way to the warmth of Spring.  All that was lifeless is reborn as green buds and flower blooms begin to appear.  And we feel happiness with the fresh air and singing birds.

Spring is the time to refresh your home or office. To make a list of all the small projects that need attention. Or to contact a designer to completely update your space. Maybe you're selling your home and you need something unique to stand out. Converting a space to show who you really are is inspiring.

Let's have fun as we emerge from our hibernation.  To find hope in a new season.  And to share in each other's happiness.

Join us at the:
🌞😎🌳 BRING SPRING ART FESTIVAL! 🌳😎🌞

🍂🦃🍁 How Does Autumn Make You Feel? 🍁🦃🍂

Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

My dog runs toward the orchard as we emerge from our hike in the brightly colored forest.  Everything is vibrant as the sun's rays pass through the red, orange, and yellow leaves.  And it continues as we walk through the countless rows of apple trees.  We select the best fruit for cakes, tarts, and other treats on chilly nights.  Something that will pair perfectly with cocoa and movies.

How does autumn make you feel?  It's a season of transformation and reflection.  A time to break out our sweaters and absorb every bit of warm sunlight before winter arrives.

Let's find ways to enjoy this fall season.  To make our home a special place for the people we love.

We hike this land that took care of the Haudenosaunee for countless generations.  The settlers arrived and ripped out the living forest and it still nurtured their farms.  And now we preserve this land so it can heal.  A place for bald eagles and other water fowl to nest.  To improve access and water quality of the lake.  It is a gift that gives back to us.

Do you love nature?  What has it given you?  What do we lose if it's gone?  Can you imagine if nature loved you back and what that would look like?

Autumn In Upstate New York

Two pieces of business before we start off:

1) Thanks to everyone for wishing me a happy birthday and all. An extra special thanks goes out to my new family. Dick and Marianne for the dinner and ice cream cake and everything else over the years. And, of course to Rich and Rachel, for letting us take up space in your house and watch everything from Antiques Roadshow to Jersey Shore. Thanks!!!

2) On the left, you'll notice a Facebook "like" button. I'm not 100% sure how useful this is. It may be an easier way for you to get updates on the blog. It may just end up being a pain. But, if you like Mike Kraus: The Blog give it a try and we can see how it works together!!!

And now, for the show...

Photobucket
The theme of this past weekend was "agriculture of Upstate New York. Megan is showing you some of the fine produce of the Rochester area

Photobucket
For my birthday, Rachel made me a card showing us holding hands because we are friends.

Photobucket
The Penfield Hots Garbage Plate. One of the most dangerous meals known to mankind. It's everything you like on one plate that will make you hate yourself when you eat it all.

Photobucket
The Apple Tree Inn, http://appletreeinn.us/, in Brockport, which is just west on Rochester. We met up with Pete and Sarah Marche here for an "afternoon of apples." You really can't go wrong with any meal here. Collectively, we had the salad with some kind of walnut apple dressing, the pumpkin spice soup, vegetable mac and cheese, "Our Famous Chicken Pot Pie," and a couple of other things. All of them were great. It was great by itself, not in comparison to the previous garbage plate...

Photobucket
Pete, Megan, and Sarah and Robb Farm, http://www.robbfarms.com/, picking apples

Photobucket

Photobucket
How 'bout dem apples?

Photobucket
What do you do when you see an apple you want high up on a tree? Ride someone's shoulders of course!

Photobucket
Moments after this shot, I had a decision to make: capture an iconic image of Pete standing at a 45 degree angle with his wife flying through the air or catch said wife for safety. I think helping catch Sarah was a wise decision since I don't want to alienate the few friends I have here.

Photobucket
Well... So much for not wanting to alienate myself. I have to show this pic of Sarah climbing the tree like Tarzan going after an apple? What's strange is I don't see any apples on this tree...

Photobucket
A few bags of apples later, a few other purchased fruits and veggies, and an apple donut later, we are all set. Thanks Sarah and Pete!

Photobucket
Here's Rachel "Tachel" at Wickham Farms, http://www.wickhamfarms.com/, which is some kind of a farm/farmer's market/amusement park/roadside attraction. It's a pretty popular place to bring the neighborhood kids and an interesting way to preserve some of the agriculture which is being depleted by the quickly expanding suburban developments. This is a bunch of kids of the Jumping Pillow

Photobucket
More of Tachel on the Jumping Pillow

Photobucket
Whoops...

Photobucket

Photobucket
One last bounce into the sand...

Photobucket
I believe this sheep is named Molly. Maybe the goat was Molly. Maybe there was no Molly at all...

Photobucket
Little Jerry Seinfeld knows how to take care of himself

Photobucket
Tachel milking the wooden cow. Just for piece of mind, don't look under the board on top of the cow.

Photobucket
Megan looking over the pumpkins that will soon be painted and carved

Photobucket
Tachel running through the little corn maze. There's a bigger corn maze, which is a 30-45 minute experience

Photobucket

Photobucket
Tachel the Scarecrow...

That's all from the hamlet of Rochester. Thanks again for everything involving my birthday. Also, don't forget to click the "like" button on the left.

xoxo,
Mike

Children's Memorial Hospital employee picnic. Can you believe I resigned from this place? Tons of food and fun all the time? And, during the worse economic calamity since the Great Depression? What an idiot...

Photobucket
Balloon animals. Nice

Photobucket
Bucktown Art Festival at the worst named park ever. Senior Citizen Memorial Park. Really? It's a park to memorialize dead old people in general?

Photobucket
A really nice art fair in general though

Photobucket
Frank's N Dawg at 1863 N. Clybourn in Chicago.

Photobucket
Megan had the Lamb Keema hot dog with lamb, English peas, cucumber salad, pearl onions and socca. Very good

Photobucket

Photobucket
The Southerner! It was great and for a great cause. Some of the proceeds go to Children's Memorial Hospital when purchased. This is not your typical hot dog stand. It's very gourmet and the prices reflect that. It's about $8-9 per dog. But, the many of the sausages are homemade and the toppings and bun are incredible. Check out their website at: http://www.franksndawgs.com/

That's about it. Megan got the ol' moving truck ordered and stuff like window ac unit, couch, rug, nightstand, bookshelves are going on Craigslist. There's also a bunch of books, clothes, more candles than you can imagine, and other items up for grabs. Let me know if you are looking for something and I'll send a photo or whatever.
