A Mike Kraus Update: Fully Illustrated and Now In Color

Starting out to be a pretty good day. I have my interview with the Feds next Tuesday. Did a little job hunting and got a couple interesting prospects. Ate some Kashi for breakfast. Not bad.

Last night, didn't do too much. Just worked on my paintings and then fell asleep watching Conan. The painting is coming along well though. About another four hours of work and it should be complete. I have one that I finished already. I'd like to get about 20 pieces done and maybe do a show or something. We'll see.

Anyway, here is another picture extravaganza. The pictures date from T-Day until just a day or two ago.

Outside view of where I work in all of it's Christmas glory

Inside where I work in all of it's Christmas glory.

The next dozen or so pictures are from the 57th floor of the Heritage. The Heritage is a new swanky condo right on Millenium Park where my work held a party for "young professionals." This is a view up Michigan Ave with the focus on the Wrigley Building.

This is the "Bean" and the ice rink in Millenium Park

The Smurfit/Stone Building. You may recognize it from Adventures in Babysitting.

This is Leslie & Andy's new dog. I think she was about three weeks old when I took this over T-day weekend. I forgot it's name, but remember it parents names had something to do with liquor. Poor sad imprisoned pup.

At Mike's Inn with Andrea and Amanda. This is how we think we look to the world.

At Mike's Inn. This is how we really look to the world.

Andrea pissed I took another photo of her.

Amanda making fun of my inability to remember my own phone number.

The least yuppie, classy, fake bar in town. Where the men are men and the women are scared.

Well, not this woman. She's been thrown out of Mike's and that is why we love her.

This is my favorite picture ever. It is of Matt. No, he is not homeless. He's just enjoying a nice PBR, which probably cost 35 cents at Mikes.

I have no idea what they are looking at.

After the show with Brian, Alice, Mike, and Jeff in Chicago.

The "M's" or the "Em's." Maybe something else. I don't remember.

This is Max. I've been told about him and everything I have heard has been true. He goes to every show in Chicago and somehow ends up on stage reading poetry about the bands that are going to play. He is amazing.

This is "Stag Party"

"Here Comes the King! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!"

At the Young Professional party for work way underdressed, tired, and about to go out on the town with Kim afterwards.

This is my co-worker Sierra. Sierra translates into "Jagged" according to a Spanish guy. She goes to school for architecture and models. She's shy about the whole modeling thing, but must have been pretty good since she's lived in New York, Milan, and Paris because of it. In this picture, she looks "Heroin Chic."

Laia is trying to steal my camera. Instead, I steal her soul.

This is my World Series buddy, Tim. He looks like W.C. Fields here.

This is Mr. R. The "R" stands for Roberto. Look at those eyes. The way he grips that MGD Light. He's an animal.

Here we are moments later on the 57th floor of the Heritage Building on the outdoor balcony. I hate heights.

Same place, but a little more posed.

This is Laia's Andrew W.K. shot. I'd put this rock star on the cover of an album anyday.

That's about it from Chi-town. I've got a lot done today already and it isn't even noon yet. I guess that's one of the joys of having your weekends on the weekdays. If I have days off on the weekends now I tend to not do anything. So, I'm about to head off to DEAL$ to buy some groceries. After that, I hope to start work on a new painting. Laia said something about going out to a movie with some of her friends. I've got to do some shaving as well so I can looks pretty for work. That's about all and I'll try to keep everyone posted about my X-mas plans. Right now, I have none.

XOXO

The Secret To Life Is Blogged Right Here.

Pretty relaxing day yesterday. Kinda just laid around the house for the most part. Although, I have to say that the Detroit Tigers did win the World Series on Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball for the Super Nintendo yesterday. Too bad that is nowhere close to reality. Ah, my last summer of freedom.

Check out my new shoes. I got them for my job interview on Friday. They were on sale for $49.99 at Younkers. They remind me of grandpa shoes. In this picture, it looks like my legs are on a table at the morgue. So damn sexy with the white socks and grey pants. How can the ladies resist?

Normally, Jacob is a shy man. But, he requested... In fact, he begged me to post this picture of him. Why? Not quite sure. You will have to ask him. It reminds me of a combination of the cat from Alice in Wonderland, Dr. Evil, and the guy from Sin City, So, Jacob, this one is for you...

Hasan lived it up last night at Monday Night Klub. I think everyone got the "Jordanian Jackhammer." He was pretty bombed by the time Dave kicked us out and I had to convince him to let me drive the Beast. That Regal is one fine automobile. It's like driving a boat. Too bad the battery completely died this morning.

Anyway, today is Hasan's birthday. For all of you who did not get the bulletin, we are having dinner at 6pm at some restaurant. I don't know which since it hasn't been decided. Hasan wanted "McDonald, you know." We won't allow that. After dinner, it's Andrea Mather's house for cake and ice cream. That will be followed up with the drive-in. I don't know what movie yet, but I imagine it will be the 40 year old virgin if it is playing there. So, if I get more details I in time I will post them. If not, call my house. If not there, call Hasan's phone. If not there, you are probably not a real friend and shouldn't hang out with the Terrorist and the CIA.

Later.

"I'm Trying To Hook Up These Two Guys. Neither One Knows They are Gay."

Not sure where I left off and don't really care. Here's a photo documentary of my life...

OH YEAH! Isn't this the most rock and/or roll picture ever? Fuck you if you say "no" because you are a loser. This picture is awesome....

More of Mike's Inn. I have a nice double chin in this too.

Andrea at the new park next to Mike's Inn. So damn awesome.

Look at this shit. Isn't this park beautiful? Man...

Brandon offered me a job in Muskegon Heights as his boss. Sounds like all I have to do is manage the budget and tell him what to do. You know, make him go pick up lunch for me and all. Which reminds me, I have to email him right now. He also informed me that some gay guy from the newspaper thinks I have a hot ass. Sweet. If I were queer I'd be rolling in men.

Good night tonight. I got started before everyone else and had to leave my bike at the bar because of it. Tomorrow, I will pick it up.

What is planned for tomorrow? Well, at 2 pm I will be golfing in crazy clothes; plaid pants, vest, and hat. Then, the drive-in. Should be a good day. Looking forward to it. Need sleep so I can think straight. Right on, losers!!!

Hear Ye, Hear Ye, the Party Will Commence In the Drinking Gazebo

New Muskegon Drinking Gazebo Circa 2005

Monday Night Club was alright. Had a few drinks, good friends, fun conversation, and somehow I learned to shoot pool. Actually, I was playing amazing pool doing all sorts of trick shots and all. I should have won two games, but for some reason I was fucking up the real easy shots I had at the end. If I wanted to jump a ball, bounce it off the rail, and blow up the corner pocket I could make it... Karma.

Since it rained last night I ended up staying at Eleanor, Ryan, and Jacob's house. Nothing like showing up to work smelling like smoke and booze in clothes you slept in.

Kids were fine today. In fact, this week they have been really easy to take care of. Either that or I'm beginning not to care what they do... What a great dad I am to those 20-some odd kids...

Tonight I am suppose to go to the drive in. Good luck with that in the rain. Maybe we should move it to the Plaza or something. What to do? Give me a minute and I shall have a few ideas... I don't have any plans for Wednesday either. Do I? Did I plan to do something with someone tomorrow? If so, remind my dumb ass.

Do I Owe You An Apology For Having Fun?

Good night last night. At least the part I can remember. It was Andrea's 21st b-day. So, we had a night out on the town. First, we went to Pints and Quarts to warm up. We had to get to Captain Jack's at 11 so we could get the limo, which was a surprise gift and I might still owe money on.

Sweet ride. We went to Mike's Inn for Monday Night Club, then to Rossi's in GH, and I don't know what after that. Oh yeah, on the way to GH we picked up some alcohol at the Sunny Mart. Nothing is more awesome than picking up drinks at Sunny Mart in a limo. All the hobos were jealous.

I'm not sure how much money I spent, but it was way too much. I don't know what I was doing, but I remember some girl yelling at me about something and I think I just laughed at her, which made her yell more. I'm not sure how I got home. I'm not sure why I thought it was a good idea to get that out of control when I had work at 8:45 the next morning. I'll have to talk to someone and make sure I don't have to make any apologies...

If I do, I am sorry... Otherwise, what a great time!!!

Sometimes I Can't Believe How Bold I Can Be...

Here are a couple of pics I was unable to post last night because of dead batteries...

This is Cowboy Mouth. Good show.

Here is Muskegon's own The Elements...

The garden downtown is coming right along. They have rocks and trees now. Amazing.

Monday Night Club reclaims Mike's Inn from Summer Celebration.

Pretty good day at work today. The kids were really good. I now have them compete for ranks such as "Line Captain." They did well in all of their classes and activities. I think I could handle having kids of my own after teaching this class. If I can manage 20 kids, how bad can one or two be? Anyway, that is way far away in the distant future. No babies tonight...

Monday Night Club reclaimed their territory at Mike's Inn from the bikers. I got there way too early and drank way too late. Right now, I should be in bed. In fact that is where I am going now. I hope the kids don't mind if I am hungover tomorrow...

CINCO DE MOUSTACHE!!!

Holy Shit. One of the best days of my life... It started out pretty early with a baseball game. It was an all-star performance by Team Jacob. I had a decent game as well. Defensively, I was pretty strong. Batting, I had one strikeout, two singles, and three homeruns. I don't have any pics of the game, but Andrea said she would send them to me.

Next up was volleyball. It was a good time at the beach as the pics show...

Cookout at Andrea's. Man, I spent $4 and ate like a king. I had a big ass steak, a grilled pepper, and a baked potato. I'm still full ten hours later...

Went to Mike's Inn and heckled folks from the patio. Some lady wanted to give me beads if I showed her my "bum." In hindsight, I probably should have. At the time, I was disturbed by her use of the word "bum."

What a great day. This is the best way I could have spent a day before having to start work tomorrow. Pure absolute drugged up hippie joy... That is how I feel about my friends.
